Remember Me
Marc Anthony Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
To say I've loved and lost
Just a thought
To know I had it all
Times can change
But love will not grow old
Just turn the page
Turn down this bed alone
Do you still remember me
(Still remember me)
How could you forget
You're everything I need
I'm out here on a ledge
There's no words for me to say
(Words for me to say)
And too much to regret
You're where I should be
Do you remember when
I let you go
What was I thinking of
I'll never know
What it's like to love
But there's no way
How can I replace
Love so strong
When I can't forget your face
Do you still remember me
(Still remember me)
How could you forget
You're everything I need
I'm out here on a ledge
There's no words for me to say
(Words for me to say)
And too much to regret
You're where I should be
Do you remember when we used to dance
(Used to dance) used to sing
(Used to sing)
Do you remember you and me, oh
'Cause if I could hold you hand
(Hold your hand)
I'd be king
(I'd be king)
'Cause I remember everything
Do you still remember me (woh-oh)
How could you forget (oh-oh oh-oh)
You're everything I need (every little thing I need)
I'm out here on a ledge (out here on a ledge)
There's no words for me to say (no words)
Too much to regret (woh, too much to regret)
You're where I should be (oh-ah-ah)
Do you remember when
Do you still remember me (woh-oh)
How could you forget (oh-oh oh-oh)
You're everything I need (eh-ah-ah)
I'm out here on a ledge
There's no words for me to say (oh, baby, no)
Too much to regret (oh oh)
You're where I should be
In "Remember Me," Marc Anthony sings of a love that did not last. He sings about the regret that comes with losing someone you loved and still loving them even after they're gone. He begins by saying that it's not enough to say he has loved and lost - losing this love has left a gaping hole, and he feels like he has lost everything. Time can change a lot of things, but love is something that will never grow old. As he reminisces about the past, he wishes he could turn back the clock and turn a new page, but he's all alone in his bed.
The chorus is a question - do you still remember me? It's a poignant moment because he's asking someone that he loves, and it's clear that he still loves them. He acknowledges that he's out on the ledge, and there's nothing he can say to change the situation. However, he still wishes he could go back in time to be with them. He remembers dancing and singing with them, and if he could hold their hand again, he'd feel like a king.
"Remember Me" is a song about heartbreak and regret. It's a song that speaks to anyone who has ever loved and lost. It's a reminder that while time may move forward, love remains a constant.
