Marc is best known for the songs "Where You Are" and "Home." Broussard previously released several independent efforts, including 2002's Momentary Setback which spawned the hit "The Wanderer", a song about self discovery. A re-worked version of the song appears on Carencro. As of July 2005, "Home" was released as a single.
Although Broussard is rather unknown, he is characteristically known and critically praised for his strong vocals. However, he has garnered an uptick in popularity thanks to a snappy tune "Must Be The Water" which is featured in television commercials on TNT for the 2008 NBA All-Star game held in New Orleans.
Take Me Home
Marc Broussard Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Tell me how can you love me after all I've done
I long to be so close to you, Father God
Oh teach me the way to live each day like your Son
Lord I want to be with You
So I beg you to make me anew
I lay my crown at your throne
My spirit is willing but my flesh is weak, oh God
Tell me how can you love me after all I've done
I long to be so close to you, Father God
Oh teach me the way to live each day and every day like your Son
Lord I want to be with You
So I beg you to make me anew
I lay my crown at your throne
Take Me Home
Take Me Home
In Marc Broussard's song Take Me Home, the singer expresses a deep desire for spiritual growth and closeness to God. The primary conflict presented in the song is that the singer feels unworthy of God's love due to past mistakes and shortcomings, but longs to be "close to [God], Father God." This internal struggle is suggested in the opening lines of the song, "My spirit is willing but my flesh is weak, oh God / Tell me how can you love me after all I've done." Throughout the song, the singer pleads for guidance and instruction, asking God to "teach [him] the way to live each day like [His] Son."
The repeated refrain of "Take Me Home" reinforces this desire to be in God's presence and demonstrates a certain sense of longing within the singer. The line "I lay my crown at your throne" is a relinquishing of earthly possessions in favor of spiritual growth, a rejection of materialism and a plea for a deeper understanding of the divine.
Overall, the lyrics of Take Me Home convey a sense of humility and vulnerability, with the singer openly admitting their imperfections and asking for guidance. The song's message is not necessarily religious in nature but can be interpreted as an expression of a universal human desire for spiritual growth and a deeper understanding of the self.

This was the first song I ever heard from Marc Broussard. Man. That big voice and swampy feel. It's irresistible. He has matured into one of the best soul singers I've ever heard! Just rediscovered him lately and I'm blown away.

I think he is fantastic! Heard him for the first time when our family was visiting in Carmel Ca. My daughter had her music on. I heard "Home" looked it up and the artist that sings it. And he wrote it. I bet I have listened to it 1000 times, since first listening in July. Have listened to so many of his recordings since. Would love to see you in concert in The Bay area, In November. That would be so fun. My husband and I have been to many concerts. We have seen Journey 17 times in the past 15 years. And many other performers.Keep that soul, funk, blues whatever you want to call it, goin. You are just awesome. Oh, and we are 77 years young, Marc. Who says old people can't be kool ๐๐

My granddaddy just passed. He was a real Cajun. His parents couldnโt speak a lick of English.
This reminds me of him. I now love this song in a very different way. Thank you, Marc.

I heard this song shortly after it was released. I am just as impressed with it today as I was 15 years ago when it was released. Marc is a man of immense talent, and this song is an incredible homage to traditional Southern Rythm and Blues.
