First love
Marchello Lyrics

Who do I choose?
You see I'm so dazed and confused
And time after time
I've misread the signs
So how can I know that it's you
Girl, I know
When the shadows are gone
Still be deep in the arms
Of your first love
Take me out of the cold
Body and soul
With your first love
Girl, I want to be your first
First love, first love
Who knows when you're right
Or you're wrong
You win and you lose
But I never felt love this strong
I've taken the way with winners and fools
So how can I know that it's you
Girl I know
First love, first love
When the shadows are gone
Still be deep in the arms
Of your first love
Take me out of the cold
Body and soul
With your first love
Girl, I want to be your first
First love, first love
Some see love as now
I see love forever
First love, first love
When the shadows are gone
Still be deep in the arms
Of your first love
Take me out of the cold
Body and soul
With your first love
Girl, I want to be your first
First love, first love
The lyrics of Marchello's First Love depict a person who is confused about whom to choose for love. The singer is addressing his dilemma of confusion about choosing his soulmate from multiple girls. He has often misread the signs and hence seeks clarity on whether the girl he is in love with is truly his first love. He seeks the comfort of his first love even after the shadows of doubts and confusion subside. The singer also mentions that he has gone through the roller coasters of winning and losing in love, but this time, he feels love strongly.
The message in the song is not limited to searching for true love. It also emphasizes preserving it. The singer expresses his wish to take refuge in the arms of his first love, to be taken away from the cold and to be loved unconditionally. The last words 'I see love forever' indicate that his love's duration is not temporary, like some people's love; instead, it's eternal. The song underlines how the singer cherishes his first love and wants to keep those memories and moments alive forever.

Some of the greatest lead playing I have ever heard in my life, along with some of the most amazing high-tenor vocals I have ever heard. Gene Marchello was basically a younger Rik Emmett of Triumph at the precious young age of 19 here. Amazing. Not to mention his band had an absolute kick-ass rhythm section. 🤘🏻

A keen comparison. I agree Gene sounds a lot like Rik here, vocally AND guitar style-wise. And this song definitely sounds like it would fit right in on Triumph's Surveillance album.

@Erskine Patton Absolutely.

I had the pleasure of living next door to the keyboardist, Gary Bivona, shortly after he left the band. A bright, sensitive and talented guy who took the high road to support his family rather than try to extend a spent force once the lead singer decided to go in another direction. Great musician, perhaps at the wrong time?

I had this on cassette when it came out....I think Gina Gershon was in the video. The drum fills going into the chorus are so epic.
@500erider
Gina Gershon was hotter than molten lava.

Such an amazing song and the drummer kicks ass badly, I think that's a very big plus for the song itself besides of all the good things about it.

Awesome song, thanks for putting it up.

A great band that should have gone over the top.

Great tune man. Thought I was the only person that remembered this one.
