En Mi Viejo San Juan
Marco Antonio Solís Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

En mi viejo San Juan
Cuantos sueños forjé
En mis años de infancia
Mi primera ilusión
Y mis cuitas de amor
Son recuerdos del alma

Una tarde me fui
A esa extraña nación
Pues lo quiso el destino
Pero mi corazón
Se quedó junto al mar
En mi viejo San Juan

Adiós, adiós, adiós,
Borigen querida
Tierra de mi amor
Adiós, adiós, adiós,
Mi diosa del mar
Reina del palmar

Me voy, ya me voy
Pero un día voveré
A buscar mi querer
A soñar otra vez
En mi viejo San Juan

Música

Pero el tiempo pasó
Y el destino nubló
Mi terrible nostalgia
Y no pude volver
Al San Juan que yo amé
Pedacito de patria

Mi cabello blanqueó
Hoy mi vida se va
Ya la muerte me llama
Y no quiero morir
Alejado de tí
Puerto rico del alma.

Adiós, adiós, adiós,
Borigen querida
Tierra de mi amor
Adiós, adiós, adiós,
Mi diosa del mar
Reina del palmar

Me voy, ya me voy
Pero un día voveré
A buscar mi querer
A soñar otra vez
En mi viejo San Juan

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of En Mi Viejo San Juan by Marco Antonio Solis expresses a deep sense of nostalgia and longing for a place that holds a special place in the singer's heart. The song begins with the singer reminiscing about his childhood in San Juan, where he formed many dreams and illusions. He also mentions his first love and the memories he carries from that time in his life. However, as he grew older, the singer had to leave San Juan and travel to a foreign country, following his fate. Although he left physically, his heart remained in San Juan, near the sea and the memories held there. The singer expresses his farewell to San Juan, his beloved land, the queen of the palm trees, and the goddess of the sea, hoping to return someday to fulfill his dreams once again.

As the song concludes, the singer shares a sense of heartbreak as he reveals he may not see San Juan again before he dies. He conveys a deep desire to return to San Juan, concluding the song with the idea of returning to the place where he can once again feel complete, love and dream once more.
