Three Words
Marco Borsato Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Sono bastate tre parole
Parole che non volevo dire
... E voorei finirla li
Dirti ancora scusa e non
Pensarci piu

In realta non c'é niente
Ma lo so che ti fa male
Stupido mi sono lasciato andare
E si alza un muro fra di noi
(And it takes)

Three words to end a lovelife
Three words to end it all
Three words cut like a sharp knife
Cut the robe and entering the fall

Non c'é scusa é tutto vero
La vanita é complice con me
... E vorrei tornare indietro
Tre parole ed io ti perdero
(And it takes)

Three words to end a lovelife
Three words to end it all
Three words cut like a sharp knife
Cut the robe and entering the fall

Parlo e non mi ascolti piu
Quel muro che non viene giu
C'era un patto; non tradire mai

Tutto l'odio che c'é in te
Non dà spazio ai miei perché
So che ho perso é troppo tardi ormai

Three words to end a lovelife
Three words to end it all
Three words cut like a sharp knife
Cut the robe and entering the fall

Parlo e non mi ascolti piu
Quel muro che non viene giu
C'era un patto; non tradire mai

Tutto l'odio che c'é in te

Non dà spazio ai miei perché
So che ho perso é troppo tardi ormai

Overall Meaning

The first stanza of the song speaks about how three little words were enough to put an end to a relationship, even though the words were not meant to be said. The singer regrets saying those words and wishes to go back in time to avoid losing the person who meant so much to him/her. The second stanza talks about how there is no excuse for what was said and how vanity played a role in the situation. The singer knows their actions have hurt the other person, and they wish they could take it back. The third stanza expresses how the two people used to have a pact to never betray one another. However, now they don't talk to each other, and there is a wall between them. The singer knows they have lost the other person, and even though they understand why the other person feels that way, it's too late to fix things.

In summary, the song is about the ending of a relationship due to three words that were said in the heat of the moment. The singer laments the loss of the relationship and wishes they could go back in time to prevent themselves from saying those three words that ended it all.
