The lyrics to Marco Mengoni's song "Rivoluzione" reflect the desire to make a change in one's life while accepting one's flaws and limitations. The singer starts by acknowledging that he is willing to settle for less even though he doesn't speak Arabic or attend church, and sometimes pretends to laugh. He feels like an only child, and where he lives doesn't feel like home. Despite this, he is ready to say goodbye to his dependencies and bad habits that are damaging his health. He thinks of life as a dream under anesthesia, and he wants to stay in that state.
The singer reflects on his age and how he has a lot to say but very little breath left. He recalls memories of wanting to run a marathon to pass the time but feeling too tired to do so. He has a lot to say, but he feels like he is talking to himself because no one seems to be listening. He reminisces about a kiss before going to sleep and wants to learn to say "mom" and "dad" properly. He contemplates making a revolution with his partner, and he finishes by acknowledging that he is ready to say goodbye to the year that was full of dependencies, empty phrases, and blurred faces.
