Nem te despedes de mim
Meu amor não fugias agora
Está a chegar a hora
De voltar pra o pé de ti
Deixas a chave à entrada
Num vaso com flores para ti
Vês que ao sair de casa
Não tens como voltar pra mim
Sei, se a noite leva o dia
Não há mais sol para ver
Sei que não voltas aqui
E eu, feito cobarde
Não sigo em frente
Espero por ti
Deixas dor na minha voz
Fica tão áspera de pena
E todos os versos sobre nós
São agora mais que um poema
Pra ler um dia
Se formos avós
Digo baixinho ao ouvido
De quem me quiser ouvir
O meu sonho é ficar contigo
E se eu um dia consigo
Juro nunca mais
Vais fugir de mim
Sei, se a noite leva o dia
Não há mais sol para ver
Sei que não voltas aqui
E eu, feito cobarde
Não sigo em frente
Espero por ti
Sei, se a noite leva o dia
Não há mais sol para ver
Sei que não voltas aqui
E eu, feito cobarde
Não sigo em frente
Espero por ti
Sei que não voltas aqui
E eu, feito cobarde
Não sigo em frente
Espero por ti
The lyrics to "Fado do Cobarde" tell the story of a man who has been left by his lover. She opens the door and leaves without saying goodbye, while he remains paralyzed by fear and unable to move on. He waits for her to come back, hoping that she will not abandon him forever. The singer leaves a key in a vase of flowers for his lover, but realizes that he has no way to return to her. The pain in his voice is reflected in the music, as it becomes more desperate and raw.
The lyrics are full of nostalgia and heartache, as the singer laments the loss of his love. The emotions are heightened by the use of the fado genre, which is known for its melancholy rhythms and mournful vocals. The fado originated in Portugal in the early 19th century and has since become a popular style of music throughout the world.
Overall, "Fado do Cobarde" is a beautiful and moving song that captures the essence of the fado genre. It is a poignant reflection on love, loss, and the fear of abandonment.
