Time After Time
Margaret Whiting Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Time after time
I tell myself that I'm
So lucky to be loving you

So lucky to be
The one you run to see
In the evening, when the day is through
I only know what I know
The passing years will show
You've kept my love so young, so new

And time after time

You'll hear me say that I'm
So lucky to be loving you

I was playing this song at dinner when my grandmother began to cry she said “it brought back memories when she was a girl, she would sneak out of her room at night and watch the old movies with her pop and these songs would play” she said she really misses those times but I’m glad the song let her remember again.

I got She & Him's "Classical" album, heard their cover and I realized I knew the song and scoured my brain for where I knew this song was from and it clicked it was "Julie & Julia" and I was so happy to find this. Thanks to Julie & Julia and She & Him I love this song so much!

I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Ms. Whiting when she appeared in the stage production 4 Girls 4 in Los Angeles, appearing with three more of the greatest singers of their time - her voice was exquisite. I was thrilled to talk with her backstage - my dad was a stagehand working on the show and I sat with him at the lighting board - when she came over to talk waiting to go on stage. It was amazing how calm she was - she was born to sing. And this is one of my favorites.

Comments such as, "those were the days, they really knew how to write back then, etc." You know what? You're listening to a great song right now, today! Style never goes out of fashion!
