At the height of her career her songs were recorded by some of pop music’s most important stars: Mama Cass, Bobbie Gentry and Glen Campbell, Astrud Gilberto, Julie London, Jackie DeShannon, Carmen McCrae, The Lennon Sisters, and Claudine Longet. Her first song to be recorded was "Moon Ride" by the jazz singer Chris Connor in 1958, while she was still in high school. Later, there were two hit versions of the Margo Guryan-penned "Sunday Morning" released a year apart in the late 1960s — the first by Spanky And Our Gang, and the second by Oliver (who had previous success with "Good Morning Starshine" and "Jean").
Although she preferred writing songs that others could record and perform, in 1968 Guryan recorded and released an album entitled "Take a Picture". Although the success of this record back then was limited, it has since become a much sought-after collector’s item.
"Take A Picture" was reissued in 2000 by Franklin Castle Records. A collection of demos entitled 27 Demos is also available.

Now that you walked into my life
And brought me sunshine
Don't go away
Now that you opened up my door
And gave me flowers
Don't go away
On a face that knew how to cry
Don't go away
Now that you've shown me a way
That I don't have to say good-bye
Don't go away
Now that you walked into my life
And gave me good times
Don't go away
Now that you opened up my door
And brought me true love
Don't go away
Now that you planted a dream
In a mind that never knew how
Don't go away
How could I live without you
After you made me need you now
Don't go away
Now that you walked into my life
And gave me good times
Don't go away
Now that you opened up my door
And brought me true love

Margo Guryan's song "Don't Go Away" is a sweet, heartfelt plea to a lover not to leave. The lyrics describe the positive impact this person has had on the singer's life - bringing sunshine, flowers, and smiles - and how they have opened the door to a world of good times and true love. The singer begs the lover not to go away, now that they have planted a dream in a mind that never knew how, and after they have made the singer need them.
The song is notable for its simple, yet effective lyrics, which communicate the singer's vulnerability and dependence on their lover. The repetition of the title phrase "Don't go away" reinforces the urgency of the request, and the gentle melody is a perfect fit for the sentimental lyrics. Overall, "Don't Go Away" is a charming love song that captures the feeling of being swept off one's feet by a new relationship and not wanting it to end.
