At the height of her career her songs were recorded by some of pop music’s most important stars: Mama Cass, Bobbie Gentry and Glen Campbell, Astrud Gilberto, Julie London, Jackie DeShannon, Carmen McCrae, The Lennon Sisters, and Claudine Longet. Her first song to be recorded was "Moon Ride" by the jazz singer Chris Connor in 1958, while she was still in high school. Later, there were two hit versions of the Margo Guryan-penned "Sunday Morning" released a year apart in the late 1960s — the first by Spanky And Our Gang, and the second by Oliver (who had previous success with "Good Morning Starshine" and "Jean").
Although she preferred writing songs that others could record and perform, in 1968 Guryan recorded and released an album entitled "Take a Picture". Although the success of this record back then was limited, it has since become a much sought-after collector’s item.
"Take A Picture" was reissued in 2000 by Franklin Castle Records. A collection of demos entitled 27 Demos is also available.

Words & Music by Margo Guryan
Somewhere it is sunny
And people may be happy
And somewhere there are people
Making money by the week
All I can think about is you
You walked into my life
Smiling on a cold and windy day
If I hadn't been careful
You would've stole my heart away
But I think once
And I think twice
About everything I do
And what I do
I think a lot about you
Somewhere it is raining
And people are unhappy
And people are complaining
That the world has gone to pot
But I don't worry a lot
I think a lot about you
You walked into my life
Looking like a lion to be tamed
If I hadn't controlled me
You know I might have been ashamed
(In the morning)
But I think once
And I think twice
About everything I do
And what I do
I think a lot about you

In the song “I Think a Lot About You,” Margo Guryan expresses her deep feelings for someone she loves. She starts by painting a picture of people in a sunny place enjoying life and making money. However, she quickly dismisses those thoughts and admits that all she can think about is the person she loves. She then describes how this person walked into her life with a smile, but she had to be careful not to fall too hard for them. Margo is careful about everything she does, and she thinks about the person she loves a lot.
The second verse starts with mentioning how it’s raining and people are unhappy, and the world seems to have gone to pot. However, Margo is not one to worry about what's happening in the world. All she can think about is her love. She then describes how this person came into her life looking like a lion to be tamed, but she managed to control herself. Then as the morning comes, she thinks once and thinks twice about all the things she does. She ends by once again saying, she thinks a lot about the person she loves.
There is a clear sense of devotion and caution in Margo's lyrics. She has strong feelings for the person she loves but is careful not to let her emotions get carried away. She thinks before she acts or speaks, and this thoughtfulness comes through in the lyrics. Overall, the song is a beautiful expression of love and the lengths we go to for the people we care for.
