At the height of her career her songs were recorded by some of pop music’s most important stars: Mama Cass, Bobbie Gentry and Glen Campbell, Astrud Gilberto, Julie London, Jackie DeShannon, Carmen McCrae, The Lennon Sisters, and Claudine Longet. Her first song to be recorded was "Moon Ride" by the jazz singer Chris Connor in 1958, while she was still in high school. Later, there were two hit versions of the Margo Guryan-penned "Sunday Morning" released a year apart in the late 1960s — the first by Spanky And Our Gang, and the second by Oliver (who had previous success with "Good Morning Starshine" and "Jean").
Although she preferred writing songs that others could record and perform, in 1968 Guryan recorded and released an album entitled "Take a Picture". Although the success of this record back then was limited, it has since become a much sought-after collector’s item.
"Take A Picture" was reissued in 2000 by Franklin Castle Records. A collection of demos entitled 27 Demos is also available.

Words and Music by Margo Guryan
It's alright now
We talked the whole thing over
We understand each other
And we won't be seen together anymore
It's alright now
Be careful not to touch me
Don't tell me what you're thinkin'
And don't ask me what I feel
Ev'rything will be okay tomorrow
When love is gone
No one seems to love forever
Why should ours go on
And on
And on
It's alright now
It's time that we were leaving
I've other things to think of
And you shouldn't see me cryin' anyhow
And anyhow it's alright now

Margo Guryan's It's Alright Now is a song that is tinged with sadness and perhaps even bitterness. The lyrics suggest that a romantic relationship has come to an end and the two parties have decided to go their separate ways. The verse "We talked the whole thing over/We understand each other" implies that the relationship was not a smooth one and perhaps there were misunderstandings or arguments. However, they have now reached a level of understanding and acceptance. The chorus "It's alright now/ Be careful not to touch me/Don't tell me what you're thinkin'/And don't ask me what I feel" displayed the distance and awkwardness that lingers after what had been shared are withdrawn.
The song's conclusion is that of hope, and possibly even relief. The lyrics state, "Everything will be okay tomorrow/When love is gone/No one seems to love forever/Why should ours go on/And on/And on." This implies that the relationship had reached its natural conclusion and there is no need to prolong their emotions. In the final verse, "It's time that we were leaving/I've other things to think of/And you shouldn't see me crying anyhow/And anyhow it's alright now," they decide to go their separate ways and pursue other things. Although painful, they are acknowledging that it is time to move on.
