Maria Bethânia Lyrics

E destruir a companheira
Porque sangrar o meu amor assim?
Não penses ter a vida inteira
Para esconder teu coração
Mais breve que o tempo passa
Vem num galope meu perdão
Aquela velha história, amor
Deixa eu penar
A liberdade está na dor
Porque temer a tua fêmea
Se a possuis como ninguém
A cada bem do mal do amor em mim?
Não penses ter a vida inteira
Para roubar meu coração
Pois cada vez é a primeira
Do teu também, serás ladrão
Deixa eu cantar
Aquela velha história, amor
Deixa eu penar
A liberdade está na dor
Eu vivo a vida, a vida inteira
A descobrir o que é o amor
Leve pulsar do sol a me queimar
Não penso ter a vida inteira
Para guiar meu coração
Eu sei que a vida é passageira
Mas o maor que eu tenho, não
Quero ofertar
A minha outra face à dor
Deixa eu sonhar
Com a tua outra face, amor
In Maria Bethânia's song "Fogueira," the singer muses on why someone would burn their own fire and destroy their companion. She questions why someone would hurt her love and bleed her heart dry with fear, when time is so fleeting. She embraces the pain that comes with love, seeing freedom in its valleys, and encourages her partner not to fear her female energy, but to embrace it, stealing her heart with each new moment. She understands that life is temporary, but love is forever, and she offers her pain to the universe in hopes of experiencing the joys and sorrows of life with her partner.
In these lyrics, Maria Bethânia is essentially showing us the complexities of love and relationships. She touches on themes like fear, jealousy, pain, and forgiveness, showing us that love is not always easy, but it's always worth it. She emphasizes the need for communication and understanding between partners, showing us that we can't just expect love to be perfect; it takes work, compromise, and a willingness to embrace vulnerability. Overall, "Fogueira" is a beautiful song that captures the highs and lows of love, and reminds us to hold on to it tightly, despite the hardships.
