Menininha do Gantois!
The lyrics of the song "Oração De Mãe Menininha" by Maria Bethânia pay tribute to the late Mãe Menininha do Gantois, a highly revered priestess of Candomblé, the Afro-Brazilian religion. The song is a prayer to Mãe Menininha, asking for her blessings and guidance. The repetition of "Ai, minha mãe" and "Menininha do Gantois" highlights the deep reverence and love that the singer has for her.
The lyrics also mention the beauty and power of the Gantois community, where Mãe Menininha was the leader for many years. The references to the "estrela mais linda" (most beautiful star), "sol mais brilhante" (brightest sun), and "Oxum mais bonita" (most beautiful Oxum) allude to the spiritual richness that flourished under Mãe Menininha's leadership. The singer also acknowledges the comfort and solace that Mãe Menininha provided as the "consolo da gente" (consolation of the people), and praises her for being the embodiment of "mão da doçura" (gentle hands).
The refrain of "Olorum quem mandou essa filha de Oxum/Tomar conta da gente e de tudo cuidar" (Olorum sent this daughter of Oxum/To take care of us and everything) suggests the divine origins of Mãe Menininha's role as a priestess and the high esteem in which she was held. Overall, the lyrics are a moving tribute to a powerful and beloved figure in Brazilian religious history.

Tanto me emociono ouvindo a canção ave Maria como ouvindo a canção a mãe Menininha.
