When she was two years old, Maria Creuza moved with her family to El Salvador. As a teenager, she excelled as the singer of the group "Girls", which earned her an invitation to perform on radio programs. She recorded songs in English after being hired by a local label
In 1966, Creuza performed the song "Se Não Houvesse Maria" (composed by Antônio Carlos Pinto) at the festival "O Brasil Canta" ("Brazil Sings", from the now-defunct TV Excelsior). The following year, she sang "Festa no Terreiro de Alaketu" (also by Antônio Carlos) in the "III Festival de Música Popular Brasileira" (TV Record). That same year, she recorded the song and released a single that also included "Abolition" (Antônio Carlos). In 1969, the song "Mirante" (by Aldir Blanc and César Costa Filho) led to Creuza winning a first place award for Best Performer and third place in the "IV Festival Universitário Popular Song" in Rio de Janeiro. That year, Creuza performed "Catendê" (Antônio Carlos and Jocafi) in the "V Festival of Brazilian Popular Music" (TV Record).
In 1970, Creuza was invited by Vinícius de Moraes to join him for a tour of Uruguay (Punta del Este, with Dorival Caymmi) and Argentina (Mar del Plata, with Toquinho). While in Argentina, Crueze, de Moraes, and Toquinho recorded the album "Vinícius En La Fusa com Maria Creuza e Toquinho", which is considered to be one of the best LPs of live Brazilian music.

De toda mulher
Cada um sabe a dor e a delícia
De ser o que é
Não me olhe como se a polícia
Andasse atrás de mim
Cale a boca e não cale na boca
Você sabe explicar
Você sabe entender tudo bem
Você está, você é
Você faz, você quer, você tem
Você diz a verdade
Você diz a verdade
E a verdade é seu dom de iludir
Como pode querer que a mulher
Vá viver sem mentir
The lyrics of Maria Creuza's song "Dom De Iludir" touch upon the complexity of human nature, particularly the nature of women. The song begins by dismissing any generalizations or stereotypes about women, rejecting the notion that all women are malicious. The lyrics acknowledge that everyone knows both the pain and the pleasure of being true to oneself, embracing one's individuality.
The song then shifts to address a specific individual who is judging and scrutinizing the singer. The singer asks this person not to look at her as if she is a criminal, as if a police force is trailing her. The singer urges this person to keep their mouth shut, especially when it concerns spreading bad news or gossip.
The chorus of the song highlights the contradiction in the person's behavior towards the singer. The singer points out that this person claims to understand and explain everything well; they think they have all the answers and possess the truth. However, the truth they possess is the ability to deceive or mislead others. The singer questions how this person can expect a woman to live without lying when they themselves possess the gift of illusion.
