Maria Gadú (São Paulo, Brazil 1986), is a Brazilian singer of mpb, songwriter and guitarist .
She has been nominated twice for a Latin Grammy Award. She released her first album in 2009, self-titled Maria Gadú. Her single "Shimbalaie" became a number one hit in Italy during summer 2011, staying atop the FIMI chart for five straight weeks.
Begins to play as a child, and after having learned the basics for reading the musical notation, seven years later she begun to record songs on cassette tapes. Her real musical training begins at the age of thirteen, when she began to give concerts in the bars of Sao Paulo, playing music by Adoniran Barbosa, Marisa Monte and Chico Buarque.
At the age of twenty she began to sing on television and she signed a recording contract with Rio Slap the label to make his first album.

A voz dessa mulher é perfeita! Quando eu to em alguma crise de ansiedade eu coloco alguma música dela bem baixinho no fone, deito na cama e choro pq a voz dela me toca, me acalma, me sinto leve. Obrigada Gadú por cantar com a alma!

Não desmerecendo as outras interpretações, mas pra mim essa música foi feita pra Maria Gadú cantar. Os arranjos, a melodia e as técnicas vocais que ela aplicou trouxeram a perfeição que a letra merecia. Gratidão Gadú!!! Me emociono sempre com tua interpretação dessa e de outras músicas!!! ❤️🙏🏻
