E afogar a calma salivando um beijo teu
E afogar a calma salivando um beijo teu
Siga a seta e diga que sou seu
Siga a seta e diga que sou seu
Siga a seta e diga que sou seu
The lyrics to Maria Gadú's song Laranja offer an invitation of sorts, maybe even a seduction. The singer praises the girl's long, black hair, comparing her to an indigenous woman of the Amazonian tribe Yanomami. The imagery of desabroche, meaning "blossoming," and mastigado, meaning "chewed," suggest an intimate encounter. The singer declares her willingness to bare her soul and drown her inner peace with a passionate kiss. The chorus repeats the comparisons of the girl's hair to that of an indigenous woman and emphasizes the singer's desire to be hers.
The second verse alludes to the desire for a deeper connection, one in which the two can teach each other about the loneliness of being two people in love. The ending of the song reinforces the idea that the "laranja," meaning "orange," represents something vital and joyous in the singer's life. The repetition of the invitation to follow the arrow and declare the singer as theirs reinforces the message of the lyrics: intimacy and passion are waiting for those willing to take the risk. Overall, the song's lyrics capture the intensity and urgency of a romantic encounter.
