Her adventure with music began with the play Muzyka ze słowami (Music With Words) where her acting was accompanied with music composed by Polish independent artist Wojciech Waglewski. In 2005 this resulted in Miasto Mania, with music by Wojciech Waglewski and his sons Fisz and Emade (also well known for their ambient hip hop albums). What had been meant to be an underground project became an absolute hit of the season that everyone talked about. Something new, awaited & very appreciated in the Polish scene. Music up to date with the newest trends yet preserving the greatest rock traditions combined with poetic lyrics. Anyway, the poetry involved was of a special kind, nothing that mainstream would decide to be seen by masses. It was vulgar yet subtle, which differed from anything you would expect to hear anywhere. All this playing with words became Maria's characteristic.
The album itself is supposed to tell a story about a city girl living on a rooftop of a skyscraper. She's watching people and planes go by and you can hear all the city sounds on the record.
The only question left is: will this project be continued as it was meant to be a one time thing?

Maria Peszek Lyrics

Co do przyszłych przebudzeń
Choć bardzo bym chciała, jak inni by chcieli
Po śmierci obudzić się w nieba pościeli
Ciało pielęgnuje, bo jest domem duszy
I gdy jest mi dobrze
Moja dusza mruczy
Nie mam najmniejszych złudzeń
Co do przyszłych przebudzeń
Choć bardzo bym chciała, jak inni by chcieli
Po śmierci obudzić się w nieba pościeli
Ciało pielęgnuje, bo jest domem duszy
I gdy jest mi dobrze
Moja dusza mruczy
Więc zamiast tu stygnąć
W strachu przed wiecznością
Ja wolę bezwstydnie
Namakać czułością
The song "Hedonia" by Maria Peszek begins with her admitting that she doesn't have any illusions about her future awakenings, despite the fact that, like most people, she wants to wake up in heaven's bed after death. She understands that death is an inevitability and that nothing can be done about it. However, she takes care of her body, which she considers the home of her soul. She finds comfort in taking care of herself physically, and when she's feeling good, her soul purrs in contentment.
In the second verse, Peszek reiterates that she has no illusions about her future rebirths, but she wants to wake up in heaven's bed like everybody else. Peszek believes that she needs to take care of her body because it is the home of her soul. Her soul is at ease when she feels good in her skin, taking care of herself, which implies that she is mindful of her physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
In the chorus, Peszek declares that instead of freezing in fear of eternal life, she prefers to immerse herself without shame in tenderness. Instead of concealing her vulnerability, she embraces it without reservation or timidity. In "Hedonia," Peszek encourages us to stay true to ourselves, embrace our vulnerabilities, and find joy in taking care of ourselves.
