Buenos Dias Amor
Maria Victoria Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

yo estaba soñando y tú a mi lado acurrucada.

y no dices nada,

y no dices nada,

Overall Meaning

In "Buenos Dias Amor," Maria Victoria sings about a dreamy morning where she confuses her lover's features with nature. She compares her skin to nacre, her eyes to clear water, her hair to the night, and her body to her pillow. The singer is so lost in her dream that she forgets that she is not alone, and her lover is cuddled up beside her. The narrative shifts to the present when the singer wakes up and kisses her lover, hoping not to get scolded for disturbing her sleep. The lyrics tell a story of a love that is so incredible that it feels like a dream.

In the rest of the song, Maria Victoria confesses that she has traveled from north to south and has not found another woman like her lover. She realizes that she's in a good place and acknowledges that her lover may be angry about something she did, but because she hasn't spoken, she assumes that her love is silent because she agrees with her. She asks her lover what's wrong and notes that her expression of love is fading.

I mistook your nacreous skin for the morning light,

confundí tus ojos verdes con agua clara,
I mistook your clear green eyes for water,

tu cabello con la noche,
I mistook your hair for the night,

y tu cuerpo con mi almohada,
I mistook your body for my pillow,

yo estaba soñando y tú a mi lado acurrucada.
I was dreaming and you were snuggled up next to me.

I got lost in your belly while you were still sleeping,

The surprise opened your eyes and the day began,

y cerré un beso en tus labios,
And I closed a kiss on your lips,

por si acaso me reñías,
Just in case you scolded me,

And I covered your body because the dawn could see us.

Buenos días amor, amor, amor,
Good morning love, love, love,

que tiene tu cara,
What's wrong with your face,

ha perdido el color, amor amor,
It has lost its color, my love,

y no dices nada,
And you say nothing,

he viajado una mujer de norte a sur,
I've traveled from north to south looking for a woman like you,

And I haven't found a woman, like you.

Me abandonaba la suerte de la mañana,
Luck was abandoning me in the morning,

escondiste tus temores bajo la almohada,
You hid your fears under the pillow,

I know you were angry, but you didn't say anything,

Silence is consent, and I know you're in love.
