Dear Mariah, your song comforts me today. My grandma passed earlier.. she fought the big C with all her might, for us. I guess sometimes no matter how strong your will is to live but if your body can take it no more, then you give in. I'm glad she's no longer in pain but sad that she's now gone. My best friend and soulmate took her own life 6 months ago. I listened to this song repeatedly. I think of the line “Its true that you’ve reach the better place, still I give the world to see your face”. Today marks the day my mother passed away. It’s been 5 years since she passed. I remember that day clearly. I was in math class and my principal ran to my classroom and said Deion I need you to pack your stuff and come with me now. We met with my cousin and the school counselor and they told me that my mother had went into cardiac arrest and they were in the middle of saving her life. So we rushed to the hospital and I went to see her and she was completely unconscious and the doctors tried their best to save her, but it was too late. Her oncologist came into the room my family was in and she said “We’re so sorry, she passed away.” My heart sank and I was numb for a moment. I didn’t cry the first day. The next week at her funeral I let it all out and it was so sad. I couldn’t even take it. On the way to the cemetery I just couldn’t take it I just kept crying, but at the repast it all went away because I reconnected with family I haven’t seen in forever and it was great. However, I felt bad for my grandmother because she had to witness another death of her children. A year later she passed away. Death hurts and no one will ever get over from a loved ones death because it feels as if you lost a piece of yourself. My mother was genuine, and hilarious and I’m so glad she saw me through my worst and my best. She’s my angel!!!

Update: I got accepted into the Disney College Program and I know my mom would be so proud!!!
