Some throbbing howl
Eat me alive
I love your mouth
I'd like to roll around your tongue
Caught like a bicycle spoke
You eat, I'll grow and grow
With my violet eyes, I'll make you succumb to my mind
And through it all
I'll keep you blind and close my mouth
I hold you here between my teeth
Slack like an elephant's trunk
I'll fight the urge to bite
Or I'll get sticky resin in my gums
I love your mouth
I love your mouth
I love your mouth
I love your mouth
Under violet skies, I watched you give into the wild
Some throbbing howl
Eat me alive
I love your mouth
With my violet eyes, I made you succumb to my mind
And through it all
I kept you blind
I love your mouth
I'd like to roll around your tongue
Caught like a bicycle spoke
You eat, I'll grow and grow
Swelling up until you choke
The song "Violet" by Marika Hackman is a sensual and intense exploration of desire and control. The opening lines "Under violet skies, I watched you give into the wild" immediately set the tone for the song, creating a mysterious and alluring atmosphere. The singer seems to be observing someone who has surrendered to their primal instincts, represented by the "throbbing howl". The phrase "eat me alive" can be interpreted in two ways, either as a literal reference to consumption or as a metaphor for the intensity of the moment.
The repeated refrain "I love your mouth" is both sensual and threatening. The mouth, often associated with pleasure and intimacy, is also a symbol of power and control. The singer desires to be devoured by the other person, but also wants to have control over them. The line "I'd like to roll around your tongue" could be seen as an invitation to intimacy, but the following line "Caught like a bicycle spoke" suggests a sense of entrapment. The image of the singer growing and swelling until the other person chokes adds to the sense of danger and intensity in the song.
The chorus, with its repeated phrase "With my violet eyes, I made you succumb to my mind", reinforces the idea of the singer's control over the other person. The violet eyes can be seen as a symbol of mystery and power, and the idea of making someone "succumb" to their mind suggests a dominance over them. However, the singer also acknowledges that they are keeping the other person "blind". This could either mean that they are withholding information or that they are blinding them with pleasure.
Overall, "Violet" is a complex and sophisticated exploration of desire and control. It uses vivid and sensual imagery to create a disorienting and intense atmosphere.

Under violet skies, I watched you give into the wild
Beneath the purplish-blue heavens, I saw you surrendering to the untamed world
Some throbbing howl
A certain pulsating roar
Eat me alive
Consume me completely
I love your mouth
I delight in your speech organ
I'd like to roll around your tongue
I wish to move joyously on your lingual muscle
Caught like a bicycle spoke
Trapped as in a wheel's metal spoke
You eat, I'll grow and grow
You consume while I steadily expand
Swelling up until you choke
Increasing in size until you can no longer breathe
With my violet eyes, I'll make you succumb to my mind
Using my purplish-blue gaze, I'll make you yield to my thoughts
And through it all
Despite everything
I'll keep you blind and close my mouth
I'll keep you ignorant and keep my lips tightly shut
I hold you here between my teeth
I contain you between my jaws
Slack like an elephant's trunk
Loose like a pachyderm's snout
I'll fight the urge to bite
I'll resist the temptation to chomp down
Or I'll get sticky resin in my gums
Otherwise, I'll get adhesive sap lodged in my oral tissue
