While I do believe in innocence until proven guilty in the court of law, all of this does look incredibly damning to say the least. So many women are coming forward with stories describing so many elements and scenarios that seem like they match up. (i.e. the sleep deprivation, the soundproof room, etc.) Manson is a provocateur so it can sometimes make it difficult to determine what is and isn't meant to be taken seriously in regards to some of his public statements, but it seems more clear now that so much has been corroborated by multiple individuals as well as Manson's own admission.
I'm trying really hard to not flat out say whether or not he is 100% guilty of these horrible crimes, but I will say this: Given how much his music got me through a lot of really tough times in my life since I discovered it at the age of 14 or 15, and even until as recently as last week or so being the last time I listened to a couple of his songs on a bad day, I can't help but feel disgusted with myself in a weird way.
Given how much his music once meant to me and how it honestly even kept me from giving in to suicidal depression in the past, it sickens me to realize that all of the good his music did for me came from someone who very well could be in fact such an absolute monster.
Although I recognize that it was ultimately me and no one else that found the strength within myself to continue on despite my own difficulties and suffering, my memories of liking his music and having so much respect for him feel tainted if that makes any sense.
When it comes to abusive relationships, I've only ever experienced emotional trauma due to my first girlfriend I ever had (who I even proposed to back then, I was 18 and naive as hell as you could imagine) spent months pretending to have multiple personalities and sometimes she would pretend to slip into said personalities, but only once did she turn violent, but luckily I was able to get her off of me as we were laying down at the time and she rolled over on top of me to try to choke me with harmful intent that I didn't expect and didn't want. It wasn't long after that she admitted the truth: She was doing it partly as a "test" to see if I would stay with her no matter what and also as a sick joke for whatever reasons I still can't fathom.
We broke up a total of three times over the course of our relationship, because I guess back then I just didn't learn. The final time was because she cheated on me and wanted me to consent to an open relationship, which I refused. We were on a date at the time. We had dinner and then were watching a movie when she felt the need to confess all of this. I kicked her out and had my mother drive her home because she lived nearby and I can't drive to this day due to disabilities.
After that, she lied to people and spread rumors that I was an abusive boyfriend and that I physically beat her. Despite there being no proof, I was already bullied by the majority of the other students that I had come into contact with due to my Tourette's Syndrome, so it wasn't hard to get people to believe her and as a result whenever I would try to date again I would be rejected and looked down on for something I never did.
My experiences don't even begin to compare with what these women have gone through, but what I went through only strengthened my hatred for any act of abuse, especially ones that continue to do so much damage to a person and were done at the hands someone who claimed to love them. These acts are abhorrent when committed by anyone, and no abuser is above reproach.
I must admit, if Manson is ever officially named by someone as an abuser, I do hope that he is brought to justice for said actions. I must admit, while I can't bring myself to hate him (or anyone for that matter to be honest) he has my lost any and all respect and I'm deeply ashamed of as well as mad at myself for ever being a fan. It's a hard long road out of Hell indeed.
