What Goes Around Comes Around
Marilyn Manson Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Hey Girl
Is he everything you wanted in a man?
You know I gave you the world
You had me in the palm of your hand
Why your love went away
I just can't seem to understand
Thought it was me and you baby
Me and you until the end
But I guess I was wrong

Don't wanna think about it
Don't wanna talk about it
I'm just so sick about it
Can't believe it's ending this way
Just so confused about it
Feeling the blues about it
I can't do without ya
Tell me is this fair

Is this the way it's really going down?
Is this how we say goodbye?
Should've known better when you came around
That you were gonna make me cry
It's breaking my heart to watch you run around
Knowing that you're living a lie
That's OK cause in time you will find...

What goes around, goes around, goes around, comes all the way back around
What goes around, goes around, goes around, comes all the way back around

Now Girl
I remember everything that you claimed
You said that you were moving on now
Maybe I should do the same
The funny thing about that is
I was ready to give you my name
Thought it was me and you baby
And now, it's all just a shame
That I guess I was wrong

Don't wanna think about it
Don't wanna talk about it
I'm just so sick about it
Can't believe it's ending this way
Just confused about it
Feeling the blues about it(yeah)
I can't do without ya
Tell me is this fair

Is this the way it's really going down?
Is this how we say goodbye?
Should've known better when you came around
That you were gonna make me cry
It's breaking my heart to watch you run around
Knowing that you're living a lie
But that's OK cause in time you will find

What goes around, goes around, goes around, comes all the way back around
What goes around, goes around, goes around, comes all the way back around
What goes around, goes around, goes around, comes all the way back around
What goes around, goes around, goes around, comes all the way back around

What goes around comes around
What goes around comes around

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Marilyn Manson's song "What Goes Around Comes Around" describe the feelings of heartbreak and betrayal that the singer experiences after his girlfriend leaves him. In the first verse, the singer asks his ex-girlfriend if her new man is everything she wanted and reflects on the love that he gave her. He is confused about why their love ended and thought they would be together forever. The chorus expresses his frustration and sadness about the end of their relationship, questioning if it's fair for it to end this way. In the second verse, the singer remembers the promises his ex-girlfriend made about moving on and giving him her name. He realizes that it was all a lie and becomes further saddened by the situation.

Overall, the song describes the cyclical nature of relationships and the idea that what you put out into the world will eventually come back to you. The singer is feeling the pain of a broken heart and believes that his ex-girlfriend will also experience this pain in the future. The repetition of the phrase "what goes around comes around" emphasizes this theme and suggests that the singer is finding some comfort in the idea that justice will be served.

I searched for the original. And now I'm just curious about how did Manson get the idea of covering that

LuciusArchangel

I take it had to do with his divorce from Dita Von Teese. I remember around the time he covered this song he had just gotten out of that marriage and was all hurt about it. Good old Myspace days lol
