One person can engage in a peaceful or healthy activity.

An action taken to protect or heal someone.

This well-intentioned action may end up causing harm instead.

Struggle to comprehend, make sense of or explain the situation.

I fear the actions of other people and their potential for harm.

People will not always act appropriately or morally.

As we think we always should

Individuals have the potential to choose good or evil actions.

Underneath it all, we're just savages
Beneath the veneer of civilization, we are no different than the primal beings of ancient times.

Hidden behind shirts, ties and marriages
Our clothing, social status, and relationships may distract from our basic nature.

How could we expect anything at all
Why would we anticipate any different behavior from ourselves when we are evolutionarily wired to act a certain way?

We're just animals, still learning how to crawl
Despite advances in technology and society, we are still primitive creatures progressing at a slow pace.

Another day, another tale of rape
Incidents of sexual assault are far too commonplace in society.

Another ticking bomb to bury deep and detonate
There are potential dangers in everyday life that we may not be aware of until it is too late.

Truth is in us all, cradle to the grave
The reality of our nature is inherent in us throughout our lifetime, from birth to death.

All the hate coming out from a generation
There is a significant amount of anger and negativity amongst a certain group.

Who got everything, and nothing guided by temptation
Despite having all that society says should lead to happiness, it is easy to fall into negative patterns due to external and internal influences.

Were we born to abuse, shoot a gun and run
Is our nature violent or have we learned these things?

Or has something deep inside of us come undone?
Is there a fundamental element missing in our basic makeup?

Are you killing for yourself, or killing for your savior?
Is this action being carried out for personal gain, or as an act of faith?

Forever running wild, in the human race
We are constantly in motion, progressing through life in the same vein as our biological ancestors.

You can see it on the news
Violence and strife are often covered in the media.

You can watch it on TV
Being desensitized to violence through television and other media is not uncommon.

You can read it on your phone
News and information are more easily accessible than ever, but it is not always positive.

You can say it's troubling
It's quite clear that these events cause unrest and concern.
