With music composed by Koji Kondo and Mahito Yokota, the adventurous score was recorded in late August 2007.
Kondo often asked much of the orchestra, such as playing at strange tempos in order to best sync with Mario's natural movements or incorporating sound effects into the orchestra scores themselves. The attention to detail paid off, and the soundtrack has since received much acclaim from both fans and critics alike, notably winning "Best Design in Audio" from Edge Magazine.

I'd like to imagine Miyamoto was re-living his memories of him first creating & developing Donkey Kong, or the original Super Mario Bros during, or after this. And fully realizing the impact he's done not only to the video-game industry, but to the whole world, and millions of childhoods.
Say what you will about Nintendo as a company and their business decisions, but the impact Miyamoto's creations had, can never be understated. And this orchestra is a display of how truly important Mario is as a symbol of passion, creativity, and collaboration. Or at least, it feels like it to me.
Been a Mario fan pretty much my whole life, and will most likely continue to be until I inevitably kick the bucket. It's hard to put into words how much this franchise has impacted me as a human being and the vision on who I want to be. So I'll just say this.
Thank you Miyamoto. You'll never stop being an inspiration to me, and millions of other creative folks. We'll never give up on our dreams, even in the bleakest of days.
Take care of yourselves. ❤

I remember when my brothers and I were playing Super Mario Galaxy and we got to Gusty Garden Galaxy. When the music started we went like "whoa whoa wait a second" and we just let Mario stand there and listened to this beautiful song for a few minutes. Only after that we continued playing the game. Really, really awesome!
