Heard a bird sing her song
Sang you were true
Well, she got it all wrong
She didn't know about you're Lies
And all you're stupid alibis
Don't you know, this bird got wise
The writings one the wall
Yeah yeah
In letters written tall
Yeah yeah
I thought I'd let you know before I go
I will see you crawl
Fell of the hill
Into darkest of dreams
Promises broke
Ripped apart at the seams
So now you know this bird has flown
You will repay me what you owe
Don't you know you're gonna live
Alone alone alone
The writings one the wall
Yeah yeah
In letters written tall
Yeah yeah
I thought I'd let you know before I go
You made a big mistake
Yeah yeah
Signed and sealed your fate
Yeah yeah
I thought I'd let you know before I go
I will see you crawl
I'll wait till the night comes
In the darkness you are no one
I'll wait till the night comes
Until I know all you're shadows are gone
The writings one the wall
Yeah yeah
In letters written tall
Yeah yeah
I thought I'd let you know before I go
You made a big mistake
Yeah yeah
Signed and sealed your fate
Yeah yeah
I thought I let you know before I go
I will see you crawl
I will see you crawl
The song "Crawl" by Marion Raven delves into the theme of betrayal and revenge. The lyrics suggest the singer had trusted and believed in someone who turned out to be a liar and cheat. The opening lines "High on a hill, heard a bird sing her song, sang you were true, well she got it all wrong" paint a picture of disappointment and disillusionment. The bird refers to a messenger who had conveyed positive information about the person, but the message turned out to be false. The singer feels let down and angry because of the lies and stupidity of the person they trusted, and the chorus confirms it: "the writings on the wall, in letters written tall, I thought I'd let you know before I go, I will see you crawl." The singer clearly feels wronged and will make sure that the deceitful person suffers the consequences of their actions.
The following verses continue to strengthen the singer's point of view - "fell off the hill into the darkest of dreams, promises broke, ripped apart at the seams." The person's untruthful behavior has caused significant damage and harm. The chorus reiterates the singer's resolve to seek retribution, "the writings on the wall, in letters written tall, I thought I'd let you know before I go, you made a big mistake, signed and sealed your fate, I thought I'd let you know before I go, I will see you crawl."
The final lines indicate the singer's detailed plan to extract revenge at the right moment, "I'll wait till the night comes, in the darkness you are no one, I'll wait till the night comes, until I know all your shadows are gone." Overall, the song captures the pain and consequences of betrayal, and how it can lead to a desire for revenge.
