Marion Elise Ravn (International artist name: Marion Raven) is a Norwegian rock singer and musician. She was born on May 25, 1984, in Lørenskog, a suburb of Oslo, Norway . She was formerly part of the duo M2M, along with Marit Larsen. After M2M broke up in September 2002, Atlantic Records offered Marion a million-dollar recording contract with Atlantic Records.
Marion’s first solo album Here I Am was released in the spring of 2005. The album was released in Southeast Asia on June 8, 2005. European and U.S. releases followed in early 2006. Marion is said to have written all of the albums tracks herself, except one. She also plays guitar and the piano. The first single will be “Break You,” which will be released to radio in Japan on April 25, 2005, along with the video, and commercially May 23. The track “End of Me” will also be released in Southeast Asia. Marion made the video for “Break You” and the title track, “Here I Am,” on March 28, 2005. The videos were shot in Los Angeles by director Brett Simon.
The solo effort displayed a more mature rock songbird who veered aside from the bubblegum pop image cultivated by Atlantic Records for M2M. “Here I Am” shows Marion collaborating with veteran producers Max Martin and Rami, Jimmy Harry, and collaborations with Nikki Sixx from Mötley Crüe for the song “Heads Will Roll” and rock band Everclear on the song “At The End of the Day.” The album mostly chronicles Marion’s heartbreak and finding her true identity in an ever-changing pop landscape.
The videos for “End of Me” and “Break You” are already getting massive rotation on MTV Asia, and the songs are already in the Top Ten of many radio charts in Asia and Norway.
Throughout the months of April, May, and June 2005, there was a lot of confusion about the release date of her album in certain countries. A later-than-expected release date has been set for Mexico and Australia. Norway and Sweden released the album on August 10, 2005. The album was well received in Asia, with Marion touring different clubs during June and July in the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, and other Asian countries. Atlantic Records expressed interest in releasing “Here I Am” in the US sometime in 2006.
A mere 3 months postrelease, the album had sold more than 135,000 copies in Asia. In 2005, Marion recorded a track for the upcoming Hollywood film Taking Charge. The song “‘October” will appear on the movie soundtrack later in the fall of 2005.
In 2006, Marion dueted with Meat Loaf on his album “Bat Out Of Hell III: The Monster Is Loose” for the track “It’s All Coming Back To Me Now” (which had been a hit for Celine Dion in the mid-90s). The album was released October 31, 2006.

It's such a sha-i-a-i-ame, sha-i-a-i-ame
You're not the man I thought were,
Though i'm still the same (?)
Did you think that I would let my self be broken again,
Broke me again,
There's no better way to let me down my friend
How did we end up here?
When did the clouds appear?
Anywhere the wind blows,
Anywhere the snow falls,
Anytime a day breaks
comes around to put you down
You can never know when everyone,
And everything is turned around
Anytime a day breaks
comes around to put you down,
And now you're just anyone's clown.
There's a man i thought i loved
what can I sa-i-a-i-ay, sa-i-a-i-ay?
There was a stranger lying here when i woke today
When did you dissappear?
We hide (...) somewhere. (?)
Anywhere the wind blows,
Anywhere the snow falls,
Anytime a day breaks
comes around to put you down
You can never know when everyone,
And everything is turned around
Anytime a day breaks
comes around to put you down
And now you're just anyone's clown.
Anywhere the wind blows,
Anywhere the snow falls,
Anytime a day breaks
comes around to put you down
You can never know when everyone
And everything is turned around
Anytime a day breaks
comes around to put you down
And now you're just anyone's clown
and now you're just anyone's clown.
The lyrics of Marion Ravn's "Clown" suggest a feeling of betrayal and disappointment in a romantic relationship. The singer starts by declaring that the man she thought she knew is not who he seems to be. She blames him for breaking her trust and confidence, making her feel like a fool. The chorus explains that life can be unpredictable, and one never knows when they will be let down, represented by the imagery of wind, snow, and daybreak. However, the bridge suggests that the singer may have missed signs of the man's true character, causing her to question her own perception.
The lyrics suggest a sense of vulnerability, as the singer bares her emotions and acknowledges how easy it is to feel powerless in a relationship. The line "there was a stranger lying here when I woke today" is particularly striking, as it suggests that the person the singer loved was not who they appeared to be. The structure of the song reinforces this feeling of confusion, with the chorus repeating several times and the bridge serving as a brief interlude.
Overall, the lyrics of "Clown" tell a story of disillusionment and disappointment in a romantic relationship. The singer expresses her feeling of being let down by someone she thought she knew, painting a picture of a relationship that was not what it seemed to be.
