Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Marion Ryan's song "Love Me Forever" express a desire for a deep and lasting love. The singer is pleading with her lover to make a commitment to her, promising never to leave her alone. She wants to be loved completely and utterly, with strong and sweet kisses that assure her of his fidelity.

The repetition of the phrase "Love me, love me forever" sets up a sense of urgency in the song, as if the singer is afraid that the love she craves so desperately may slip away. It also reinforces the idea that the singer is seeking a love that endures, rather than just a passing infatuation. The stanza "Promise, promise you'll never/Leave me lost and alone" further emphasizes this point - the singer is asking for a commitment that lasts a lifetime.

The final lines of the song, "Now and forever, as I love you", suggest that the singer is already deeply committed to her lover. The repetition of the phrase "love me, love me" reinforces this idea, suggesting that the singer is trying to convince her lover of the strength and depth of her feelings.

Overall, "Love Me Forever" is a song about the desire for a deep, lasting love that endures through all the ups and downs of life. It speaks to the universal human need for connection and belonging, and the desire to be loved completely and unconditionally.
