A Primeira Pedra

Quem pretende revogar a lei do coração
Quem ousaria
Dessas vozes duvidar
Deixa a sua natureza se manifestar
Para ouvir basta abrir os poros
Para aceitar basta oferecer
Para que adiar um desejo
De alguém que lhe quer tanto beijo
Quem de vocês
Resiste a uma tentação
Quem pretende revogar a lei do coração
Quem ousaria
Dessas vozes duvidar
Deixa a sua natureza se manifestar
Deixa a sua natureza se manifestar
Deixa a sua natureza se manifestar
The song "A primeira pedra" by Marisa Monte is about the challenges and pleasures of love. The opening line of the song "Atire a primeira pedra" (throw the first stone) sets the tone for the rest of the song. The song speaks to the idea that everyone has experienced the pain and heartache of love, and no one is truly immune to it. It encourages listeners to open themselves up to love, and to embrace their desires instead of denying them.
The line "Todo corpo que tem um deserto/Tem um olho de água por perto" (Every body that has a desert/has a nearby water source) is a metaphor for the human experience of longing and desire. The desert represents the emptiness and loneliness that can come with unfulfilled desire, while the water represents the possibility of love and connection. The idea is that no matter how desperate someone's situation may seem, there is always hope for love and connection.
The final lines of the song "Deixa a sua natureza se manifestar/Deixa a sua natureza se manifestar/Deixa a sua natureza se manifestar" (Let your nature manifest itself) are a call to authenticity and self-acceptance. The song urges listeners to be true to themselves and their desires, and not to let fear or societal expectations hold them back from experiencing love.
