Marisela's early career was helped immensely by the famous Mexican TV show of Siempre en Domingo by Raúl Velasco and then later expanding into the United States by the help of many other Spanish broadcasting shows such as Cristina, Don Francisco, Sábado Gigante, and many other televised shows famous in the 80's and 90's. Marisela's first record release was titled Sin El a production of Enrique Elizondo and songs from the now well known Marco Antonio Solís who composed all the songs of her first hit album. Thanks to the wonderful song writer/composer and singer Marco Antonio Solis, who is one of Mexico's greatest music artists of all time, her romantic CD was an instant hit. "La Pareja Ideal" a duet between Marisela and Marco Antonio Solis is one of her most memorable songs, being promoted while the two were actually dating.
The romance ended of course because of the love triangle between Marisela, Marco Antonio Solis and Beatriz Adrianna who was also a beautiful rising artist whose album Marco Antonio Solis was promoting.
Marisela is one of very few singers who have managed to survive in the music business only by playing concerts in Mexican venues known as palenques.
Marisela has continued recording great hit songs like, "Completamente Tuya", "Enamorada y Herida", "Sola con mi Soledad", "Ya No", "El Chico Aquel", "Mi Problema" and many more.
In 2007, Marisela released a compilation of greatest hits entitled Noches Eternas with a Mariachi sound to it. She is preparing to release the most waited for production of No Soy Una Mentirosa this year.
Marisela is one of the artists that will always remain a favorite in the hearts of her audience. Now in the heart of a new generation to come that is through their ancestors listening to her songs and becoming fans of her all over again. She is now known as "La Dama de Hierro." To date, Marisela has recorded 14 albums.

No sería tan inmensa mi tristeza
Como aquella de quedarme sin tu amor
Me importas tú y tú y tú
Y solamente tú y tú y tú
Me gustas tú y tú y tú
Y nadie más que tú
Ojos negros, piel canela, que me llegan a desesperar
Me importas tú y tú y tú
Y solamente tú y tú y tú
Me gustas tú y tú y tú
No sería tan inmensa mi tristeza
Como aquella de quedarme sin tu amor
Me importas tú y tú y tú
Y solamente tú y tú y tú
Me gustas tú y tú y tú
Y nadie más que tú
Ojos negros, piel canela, que me llegan a desesperar
Me importas tú y tú y tú
Y solamente tú y tú y tú
Me gustas tú y tú y tú
Y nadie más que tú
Y nadie más que tú
Y nadie más que tú
The lyrics of Marisela's song Piel Canela express the singer's love for their partner's physical features, specifically their "black eyes" and "cinnamon skin," which they hope will remain forever. The first two stanzas set up the hypothetical scenario of losing significant natural phenomena such as the stars and the vastness of the ocean, concluding with the sentiment that losing the color of their partner's eyes and skin would be the greatest sadness of all. The repetition of "me importas" and "me gustas" emphasizes the intensity of the singer's feelings for their partner, and the final line "nadie más que tú" (nobody else but you) reinforces their exclusive love for this person.
The song can be interpreted as a celebration of physical attraction and how it can be an essential element in a romantic relationship. The fixation on features like skin color and eye color can be seen as a nod to how these traits can hold cultural significance and add depth to a couple's connection. Additionally, the song emphasizes that despite the importance of the physical, the person's partner is essential to their happiness and well-being.

Que se quede el infinito sin estrella
Let the infinite universe be devoid of stars
May the wide sea lose its vastness
But may the blackness of your eyes never perish
And may the cinnamon color of your skin remain the same
Si perdiera el arco iris su belleza
If the rainbow lost its beauty
And the flowers lost their perfume and color
No sería tan inmensa mi tristeza
My sadness wouldn't be as immense
Como aquella de quedarme sin tu amor
As that of losing your love
Me importas tú y tú y tú
You matter to me and only you
Y solamente tú y tú y tú
And only you, you, and you
Me gustas tú y tú y tú
I like you and only you
Y nadie más que tú
And nobody else but you
Ojos negros, piel canela, que me llegan a desesperar
Black eyes, cinnamon skin, that drive me to despair
Y nadie más que tú
And nobody else but you
