Debuting in 2002 with the album 3.00 A.M. Serenades on her own record company Sugartoy Recordings. The record was a success with the critics and was re-released by RCA/BMG in 2003. Following the major label release Marit Bergman embarked on a showcase tour in the United States. Her second album - Baby dry your eye - was released in March 2004 to further critical acclaim. We'll open the window for air
Feeling the time as I read between lines
Fallow them all back to here
And the tale's getting taller as I'm listening
And it grows over your head now I can't see a thing
Yesterdays voices are now getting louder
Speaking so quickly with too many questions
I try not to listen
Hiding on rooftops from the mess that's downstairs
And we're stumbling from corners, trying hard to fall again
When the sun goes down I am with you
When the sun comes up I am there
When the sun goes down I am with you
All of this seems too late
All of this seems too late
And the tale's getting taller as I'm listening
And it grows over your head now I can't see a thing
When the sun goes down I am with you
When the sun comes up I am there
When the sun goes down I am with you
All of this seems too late
All of this seems too late
When the sun goes down I am with you
When the sun comes up I am there
When the sun goes down I am with you
All of this seems too late
All of this seems too late
The lyrics of Marit Bergman's song "Sun Goes Down" speaks of a couple's journey as they navigate through life's difficulties. The opening lines describe how they push through crowds of young smokers and open the window for air, alluding to a need for clarity and a deep breath amidst noise and chaos. They feel the weight of time as they read between the lines and follow the events that bring them back to where they are now. The tale is getting taller as they listen, and it grows over their heads, referring to the challenges that are becoming more and more difficult to bear.
The voices of yesterday are getting louder, and they only crowd up the couple's head. They speak too quickly, asking too many questions, and the couple tries not to listen. They hide on rooftops, desperate to escape from the mess that's downstairs, and they stumble from corners, trying hard to fall again. The repetition of the line "When the sun goes down I am with you, when the sun comes up I am there" emphasizes their constant company amidst the overwhelming circumstances.
The song speaks of being together despite the challenges, but there's also a sense of regret that it all seems too late. The repetition of the line "All of this seems too late" highlights the feeling of being too far gone, that they have missed their chance to do something differently. Still, they hold on to each other as they navigate through life's ups and downs.
Overall, "Sun Goes Down" speaks of the human experience, of facing adversity and clinging to hope and companionship despite the odds. It's a poignant reminder that even when things seem too overwhelming, we can always find comfort in the people we hold dear.
