His breakthrough in music came with the album "Mit Pfefferminz bin ich dein Prinz" ("With peppermint, I'm your prince") in 1978.
Müller-Westernhagen's music is shaped through his concise voice and shouting passages. His texts are very direct and provoking, e.g. "Dicke" ("Fat people"), but also social critical texts like "Freiheit" (freedom) are included in his emotional repertoire.

The song "Alles in den Wind" by Marius Müller-Westernhagen is about the struggle of a man who battles with alcohol addiction. The first verse starts with the man promising himself not to drink, but he ends up drinking because of his fear. He knows that his father was an alcoholic and he promised himself that he will not follow in his footsteps. He speaks to his partner, Marie, about his struggle and how he feels ashamed about it. He describes the feeling of helplessness and how he becomes like a child.
The chorus of the song expresses the desperation and hopelessness the man feels about his addiction. He feels that everything is in vain, and it is pointless to try and stop because he always goes back to drinking. He promises Marie that he will stop drinking, but he knows that he will break the promise again. The last verse of the song is about his regret for drinking again and seeing himself in the mirror being ashamed of his actions.

Hallo Achim,
