Based on our assessment and the family's perspective, it is believed that Jacob remained conscious when his vehicle plunged into the water. As the impact triggered the airbag and water began rushing through the broken front windshield, the side windows remained intact and could not be shattered nor could the doors be opened. In a desperate attempt to escape, Jacob swiftly maneuvered toward the broken rear window. However, he became entangled with the rear headrests, ultimately taking his last breath while halfway out of the vehicle. It is the shared belief that had Jacob possessed a Window Breaker to swiftly shatter a side window, he could have escaped within seconds instead of grappling with the challenge of traversing two rows of seats and exiting through the rear window. This poignant observation highlights the potential for a different outcome had the means for quick escape been readily available, leaving us to ponder the possibilities and the heartbreaking "what ifs."

It was so sad to see he could've made it out but didn't. My heart goes out to his family and loved ones. Thank you so much again Jared and everyone involved for helping to bring closure to his family ❤

How do you prepare yourselves mentally when you encounter vehicles with bodies in them? That to me, would be just absolutely heart breaking to try and deal with.

I was watching a recovery from the Adventures with purpose partners "Chaos Divers." They were recovering possible suicide that was days, possibly one week old. Not sure if it was considered a suicide or not, but when they found said vehicle, it wasn't anything but a shiny glare on sonar. No part of it resembled a vehicle whatsoever. In Jacob's case, he and his vehicle were under water for several weeks. That glare that Jacob's vehicle made resembled something new to being underwater for a short period of time. Sonar reflected off a smooth surface.

Compartmentalization and downtime. Be grateful for every moment you have and those who choose to be a part of this beautiful life with you.

This is one of the most heart wrenching rescues of deceased ever. That sonar scan image was so tragic and shocking. I can't believe how such a dangerous road intersection can be allowed next to a waterway. Going by the damage to the car the impact into water must have been at very high speed.

You took all the words in your post out of my mouth!!! Sad tragedy that could of been prevented

It’s out in the Delta. It’s not in the city. Everyone who lives in that area makes a choice of how fast they drive on those levees. There is posted speed limits as well. This Delta is over 1100 miles of waterways in three counties. It empties into the Bay Area. Just think if it had been Tule fog as well. So sorry for the loss of this young man.
