Monsters
Mark Daumail Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

If you wanna jump every time you're in a plane
If you wanna lie down on the tracks for every train
Can you tell me what the hell happened to you
You don't have to be ashamed
I'm a monster too

Don't you realize there's nothing to hide
Cause the best things I do are the worst things you ever did
Because when the people lie
When the powers disappear
You can see it in their eyes
If there's something you need to hear
You can see it in my eyes, see it in my eyes

I take a glass of wine
And I reach the speed of light
If I get in a ... I can kill with my ...
Can you tell me what the hell happened to you
You don't have to be ashamed
I'm a monster too

Don't you realize there's nothing to hide
Cause the best things I do are the worst things you ever did
Because when the people lie
When the powers disappear
You can see it in their eyes

If there's something you need to hear
You can see it in my eyes, see it in eyes

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Mark Daumail's song "Monsters" explore the idea that no one is perfect, and everyone has their own personal struggles and inner demons that they must grapple with. The singer reminds the listener that they do not need to be ashamed of their flaws and imperfections, as he himself is flawed and imperfect as well. The lines "If you wanna jump every time you're in a plane/If you wanna lie down on the tracks for every train" are a poignant metaphor for the personal struggles that can lead to self-destructive behavior. The singer suggests that these experiences can make you feel like a "monster", but that it is okay to embrace that part of yourself.

The chorus of the song underscores this idea of bravery in acknowledging one's personal struggles. The singer declares that there is nothing to hide and that the best things he does are the worst things the listener has ever done. He suggests that through difficult experiences, one can gain a deeper sense of understanding and empathy for others. This is further reinforced in the lines "When the people lie/When the powers disappear/You can see it in their eyes/If there's something you need to hear."

Overall, "Monsters" is a powerful exploration of the human experience and the personal struggles that unite us all.
