Marijuanaville
Mark Eddie Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Rollin my home-grown, smokin a big bone
Look at the ganja covered in oil
Using my tweezers, got pot in the freezer
Just made a new pipe out of aluminum foil

Wastin' away again in Marijuanaville
Searching for my roach-clip-on-a-rope
Some people say there's a woman to blame
But I know that it's all this damned dope

Don't know the reason, I stayed here all season
Maybe that thai stick was just a little bit too strong
But I got me a beauty, a Columbian doobie
And soon I'll be high and on my way along

Wastin' away again in Marijuanaville
Searching for my roach-clip-on-a-rope
Some people say there's a woman to blame
But I know that it's all this damned dope

I blew out my bong pipe, ran out of Bud Light
But I found some stash I had hidden at home
Put it into a blender, and soon it will render
These little fudge brownies that help me get stoned

Wastin' away again in Marijuanaville
Searching for my roach-clip-on-a-rope

Some people say there's a woman to blame
But I know that it's all this damned dope

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Mark Eddie's "Marijuanaville" paint a vivid picture of a laid-back, marijuana-filled lifestyle. The first verse describes the process of smoking homegrown marijuana, covered in oil, from a makeshift aluminum foil pipe. The second verse reflects a sense of aimlessness or staying put in Marijuanaville - perhaps because of the strength of the Thai stick strain smoked previously. However, the singer also describes the pleasure of smoking a "Columbian doobie" and embarking on a high journey. The final verse describes a creative solution to running out of beer by blending marijuana into fudge brownies - a further example of the singer's ingenuity as a stoner.

The song takes a casual, humorous approach to drug use and is largely an ode to marijuana. However, the repeated refrain of "Some people say there's a woman to blame / But I know that it's all this damned dope" suggests a deeper subtext - perhaps the singer's addiction to or reliance on marijuana. The combination of lightheartedness and subtle hints of addiction or escapism makes "Marijuanaville" an interesting and layered song.

I think this is better than the original but thats just me :)

@CrunchBogus

I wish I could enjoy this song, but it's one of those I downloaded off Limewire in the early 2000s as a kid and listened to way too many times. That, and the constant mis-credit of this to Jack Black (much like many ignorant mis-credits of parodies to Weird Al Yankovic) has colored my experience with the song in a bitter way that I can never undo. I'm sorry, Mark Eddie. It's not your fault.

@Layla2383

Fucking awesome, lol!!!!!!!!!!!!
