Isham was born in New York City. He studied classical music at an early age and played trumpet, piano and violin. The Isham family later moved to San Francisco, where Mark found work in several of the local orchestras. He also became actively involved in the Bay Area rock and roll scene of the 1960s, performing live with several of the local groups.
One of his early recordings "Group 87" was released as a demo LP to college radio stations. Few commercially available pressings of this first release are available > though several custom CD burns (CBS/Sony denies existence, but providing the label & issue number through their custom burn service known as [SONY MUSIC SPECIAL PRODUCTS] can be had)!> I believe this is "THE DEFINITIVE ISHAM" against all others will be judged! One other Group 87 album followed titled "A Career in Dada Processing", a reflection attesting to the learning curve associated with the emerging CD Format. It was released with very limited availability. Both albums in the "Group 87" moniker are a bit mechanical, utilizing heavy sampling, forceful sequencing, strong percussion and a progressive edginess as compared to the later Isham releases. Mark Isham next released his self-titled "Vapor Drawings", softening the stylings of the group, but with a emphasis on his trumpeting skills, that as they matured developed into the sound that would be identified as his own unique sound. He has a MYSPACE page currently, where all available recordings can be ordered.
His albums Castalia (1988) and Tibet (1989) were both Grammy-nominated. He won in 1990 with his album Mark Isham.
In 1992 he published his first orchestral work Five Stories for Trumpet and Orchestra. The same year he earned an Academy Award nomination for the soundtrack of the film A River Runs Through It. During the following years he became a prolific film score composer. Some of his film scores include: Save the Last Dance, Men of Honor, October Sky, Point Break, and the critically acclaimed Crash which won well over 30 awards worldwide, including the Oscar for Best Achievement in Editing, Best Motion Picture of the Year and Best Writing/Original Screenplay, and many soundtrack awards.
In 1995 he released an album titled Blue Sun. This was his first album to follow a mainstream contemporary jazz format.
In 1999 he formed a group to interpret the music of Miles Davis's late 1960s through mid-1970s electric jazz fusion and released an album, Miles Remembered: The Silent Way Project, which was recorded live.
Maybe Tomorrow

I'm wondering why
These little black clouds
Keep walking around
With me
With me
It wastes time
Think I'll walk me outside
And buy a rainbow smile
But be free
They're all free
So maybe tomorrow
I'll find my way home
So maybe tomorrow
I'll find my way home
I look around at a beautiful life
Been the upper side of down
Been the inside of out
But we breathe
We breathe
I wanna breeze and an open mind
I wanna swim in the ocean
Wanna take my time for me
All me
So maybe tomorrow
I'll find my way home
So maybe tomorrow
I'll find my way home
So maybe tomorrow
I'll find my way home
So maybe tomorrow
I'll find my way home
So maybe tomorrow
I'll find my way home
So maybe tomorrow
I'll find my way home
The lyrics of Mark Isham's song Maybe Tomorrow convey a message of hope and perseverance in the face of difficult times. The first stanza depicts the singer's struggles with depression, as he is "wondering why" he feels stuck under "little black clouds" that won't leave him alone. He wants to escape this feeling and be "high" instead, but he knows that walking outside and buying something superficial like a "rainbow smile" will just be a temporary fix. He longs to be free of his inner demons and find a permanent solution to his pain.
The chorus suggests that despite the singer's current struggles, he still believes in the possibility of a brighter tomorrow. He hopes that he will eventually "find his way home" - a metaphor for finding a sense of peace and belonging within himself. The second verse reflects the singer's newfound appreciation for the beauty in life, after having experienced both the "upper side of down" and the "inside of out". He realizes that hardships are a necessary part of the human experience, but we still "breathe" and should cherish the moments of joy and clarity we are blessed with.
In the final stanza, the singer reiterates his desire for a simple, peaceful life. He wants to experience "breeze and an open mind" and "swim in the ocean", free from the weight of his past and worries about the future. He wants to take time to focus on himself and his own needs, without feeling guilty or selfish. The repetition of the chorus underscores the idea that as daunting as the present may seem, hope remains for a better tomorrow.

I've been down and
I have been feeling low and
I'm wondering why
I am questioning the reason behind this state of mind
These little black clouds
These negative thoughts and emotions
Keep walking around
Continue to linger and affect me
With me
In my life
It wastes time
It is a pointless waste of time and energy
And I'd rather be high
I would rather experience positive emotions and be in a good mood
Think I'll walk me outside
Perhaps I should go outside
And buy a rainbow smile
And find happiness and positivity
But be free
To not be weighed down by negative thoughts
They're all free
Happiness and positivity is accessible to everyone
So maybe tomorrow
Perhaps in the future
I'll find my way home
I will discover my path and find peace
I look around at a beautiful life
I am aware of the good things in my life
Been the upper side of down
I have experienced ups and downs
Been the inside of out
I have been in a difficult situation
But we breathe
But I am alive and have the ability to change things

All me

This is my favorite song from the movie. This is an outstanding movie. The way that it shows how everyone's life ended up touching on each others & the bad vs the good side of them all without anyone realizing what was happening at first. It shows ppl making amends/ atoning for the pain they caused in their recent past. ๐ฏ๐๐ฅฐ๐
