I have studied actors like Paul Newman, Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Robert De Niro, Spencer Tracy, Robert Duvall, Jeff Bridges, Montgomery Clift, James Dean, Laurence Olivier, Dustin Hoffman, Choi Min-sik, Sol Kyung-gu,
Christian Bale, Joaquin Phoenix, Leonardo DiCaprio, Collin Farrell, Gary Oldman, Adam Driver, and a few other great actors, and having seen their works, I can say that it will be a wrong assessment to speak of Daniel Day Lewis in the same breath as any of these aforementioned actors. I think Day Lewis is in another league. Every performance of his has an unprecedented level of quality to it, and I have never witnessed that in any other actor. Gary Oldman is another actor who comes close to having that kind of acting prowess. Brando may have been the granddaddy of method acting, but Day Lewis is the best actor to ever use this method. The performances he gave in " There will be blood" and " Lincoln" are the holy grail for any living or dead actor.
