After Take That split, Owen became the third of the band's ex-members to release a solo record. He reached number three in the UK Singles Chart with his debut single, Child. His second single, Clementine, also went to number three. In 1997 his album Green Man was released, charting at a number 33. After another single, I Am What I Am, charted at number 29, Owen was dropped by BMG Records in late 1997.
In 2002 Mark won the second series of Celebrity Big Brother. After being invited to perform on stage with Robbie Williams at Knebworth, he returned to the spotlight and signed a deal with Island/Universal Records. In August 2003, Owen returned to the charts with the Top 5 hit, Four Minute Warning, which remained in the Top 40 for eight weeks. His second album, In Your Own Time, was released in November 2003, entering the charts at number 59. After a second single, Alone Without You, charted at number 26, Owen was dropped by Island/Universal Records.
In April 2004 he established his own record company, Sedna Records. He released his third solo album, How the Mighty Fall in 2005, which was recorded at Sunset Studios, Los Angeles in 2004. In February 2006 he released Hail Mary as a single from the album.
In 2005 Mark rejoined the newly reformed Take That and has been enjoying chart success with them ever since. He still plans, however, to continue working on solo projects.
Crush
Mark Owen Lyrics

Crawling over my skin
My eyes are wide open,
Is it any wonder
It's just evolution
Waiting on the corner
Waiting for the number 9 to come, come
I'm looking for
Feels like a rush of blood
And you're
Feeding me something,
I'm on the ceiling
Feeling, feeling,
Yeah, yeah, yeah
If you are my karma
Bit of sweet and sour
Feel you put me under
Boyfriend in a coma
Bliss in your pollution
Itching for an answer
Waiting for my sweet divine to come, come
Always feeling the crush
I'm looking for
Feels like a rush of blood
And you're
Feeding me something,
I'm on the ceiling
Feeling, feeling,
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Feeling the crush
I'm looking for
Feels like a rush of blood
And you're
Feeding me something
I'm on the ceiling
Feeling, feeling,
Yeah
Yeah
Yeah
In "Crush," Mark Owen sings about the powerful, overwhelming feelings that come with falling for someone. He starts the song by imagining a woman "crawling over [his] skin" and the rush of emotion that follows. He believes that these strong physical and mental sensations are just a natural part of human evolution, and muses that he is "always feeling the crush" of desire, waiting on the corner for his chance to act. Despite the ambiguity of the lyrics, there is a sense of hope and optimism to the song as Owen eagerly awaits the arrival of the people, feelings, and experiences that he craves.
One of the interesting things about "Crush" is that it was initially released as a single from Mark Owen's second solo album in 2003, but was later included on a reissue of his third album in 2005. The song received some critical acclaim for its catchy hooks and lively production, and it continues to be a fan favorite to this day. Some have speculated about the meaning behind the lyrics, with some interpreting them as a critique of consumer culture or a reflection on the fleeting nature of attraction. However, Owen himself has not commented extensively on the song's meaning, preferring to let his fans draw their own conclusions.
Another interesting fact about "Crush" is that it features some unique instrumentation, including a prominent bassline and a soaring guitar solo. The song's upbeat tempo and cheerful melody make it a popular choice for parties and dancefloors, and it has been covered by a number of other artists over the years. Despite its relative success, "Crush" remains one of Mark Owen's lesser-known songs outside of his core fanbase, though it continues to be an enduring favorite for many listeners.
