Give It Your Choir
Mark Pritchard Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Stuck in phrases, furrowed head
Tear in half the photograph
And pray to see the last of that
Feeling like you lost the words
A way that points to afterwards
You make it darker in your life
Give it your cries give it your choir
Fill it with fumes kill it with fire
Telephone rings terrified eyes
Settle for what-ifs settle for lies
Put it to bed give it some room
Wrap it in ribbons carve it a tomb
Speak of it highly speak of it often
Take it to heart and whisper it softly
Turning into what you read
Locking gazes with the dead
Turn the page with one lid closed
And pray to never know the prose
Feeling hurt by stroke and line
A verse that stole the sense divine
The wintry vapour on your sighs
The calling out within you dies?
Give it your cries give it your choir
Fill it with fumes kill it with fire
Telephone rings terrified eyes
Settle for what-ifs settle for lies
Put it to bed give it some room
Wrap it in ribbons carve it a tomb
Speak of it highly speak of it often
Take it to heart and whisper it softly
The lyrics of "Give It Your Choir" by Mark Pritchard evoke a sense of personal struggle and emotional turmoil. The first verse seems to express a feeling of being stuck and unable to move past something that has been said or done. The line "Tear in half the photograph And pray to see the last of that" suggests a desire to let go of a painful memory or experience. The next verse speaks to the difficulty of finding the right words and the sense of darkness that can come from feeling unable to express oneself. Yet despite the struggle, the song urges the listener to "give it your choir," to put their whole heart and soul into something, even if it hurts.
The chorus of the song is particularly powerful, with its repeated calls to "give it your cries." It seems to be urging the listener to fully embrace their emotions, to let them out and not hold back. However, there is a sense of darkness here too, with lines like "fill it with fumes kill it with fire." These lyrics suggest a desire to destroy something, perhaps in an attempt to finally be rid of it. There is also a sense of settling for less than what is desired or deserved, with the lines "settle for what-ifs settle for lies."
Overall, the lyrics of "Give It Your Choir" are a powerful expression of the struggle to move past difficult experiences and emotions. They suggest that sometimes the only way to find release and closure is to fully embrace those feelings, even if it means facing pain and darkness.

You wash my soul
You gave my soul a dream
In notes of pouring sound
That washed away the tears that fell
From time and years
I hear you
I touch you
i feel you all around
Where sea birds fly when all alone
I see you
Where angels fly above the sky
I know you
Where moon and sun embrace
I feel you
where colour form and sound are found
I know you
I hear you
I touch you
i know you
i feel you all around
Where moon and sun embrace
where colour form and sound are found
I feel you
I hear you
I touch you
You wash my soul in sound
You wash my soul
I hear you
where the gods of music play

Definitely the best song off the album. It's also my favorite Bibio song.

Mm. Hard to overlook Lover's Carvings, Palm of Your Wave, Dye the Water Green, You Won't Remember, St. Thomas or my favorite, the Wag Stag remix of Sugarette. The lyrics in this track are sheer brilliance couple with Beach Boys like vocal adornments. So good.
