somebody to love
Mark Ronson Ft. Boy George Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I want somebody to love me
Why'd it take so long to know?
I want somebody to love me
I want somebody to be nice
See the boy, I once was in my eyes
Nobody's gonna save my lif
Looking for our buckles to loosen
By the count of ten
I wanna see somebody human
And I lost what it was, in the teenage dust of a downtown Romeo
In a couple of weeks, you can tell all the freaks, how you carried my body home
But tonight, I crossed the line
Dear Mr Lonely, how much do they know me?
I could find lessons in life
But, once you've earned it, you've already burned it
I don't wanna see you go
I need somebody to love me
(Need somebody, oh)
Why'd it take so long to know?
I need somebody to love me
(Need somebody, oh)
I want somebody to be nice
See the boy, I once was in my eyes
Nobody's gonna save my life
Got my ticket man, and I'm looking for somebody to use it
I know we pretend, but one of these days we're gonna lose it
And I once left town, when the leaves turn brown
With a couple of souvenirs
She was in my car, when we hit that wall
Yeah, you could of moved me to tears
But tonight, I crossed the line
I used to know her, when my house was sober
I could find lessons in life
Over and over, is it really over?
I don't wanna see you go
I need somebody to love me
(Need somebody, oh)
Why'd it take so long to know?
I need somebody to love me
(Need somebody, oh)
I want somebody to be nice
See the boy, I once was in my eyes
Nobody's gonna save my life
But tonight, I crossed the line
I used to know her, when my house was sober
I could find lessons in life
Over and over, is it really over?
I don't wanna see you go
I want somebody to love me
(Need somebody, oh)
Why'd it take so long to know?
I want somebody to love me
(Need somebody, oh)
Yeah, I want somebody nice
See the boy, I once was in my eyes
The lyrics of "Somebody to Love Me" express a yearning for human connection and love. The chorus repeats the phrases "I want somebody to love me" and "I need somebody to love me", emphasizing the desire for companionship. The song's narrator looks back on his past, including his teenage years and a failed relationship, and reflects on the lessons he has learned. He also acknowledges his own flaws and mistakes, such as crossing the line and losing sight of himself in the pursuit of love.
The verses of the song paint a vivid picture of the singer's experiences. The opening line, "I don't wanna see you go", represents the singer's fear of being alone. He wants somebody to stay with him and offer him love and support. The line "We are wicked men, looking for our buckles to loosen" suggests that the singer is not the only one who feels this way, and that many people are searching for love and connection. The final verse, which begins "Got my ticket man, and I'm looking for somebody to use it", shows the singer's willingness to take chances and put himself out there in the hopes of finding love.
Overall, "Somebody to Love Me" is a powerful and poignant expression of the human desire for love and connection. The song's lyrics are both introspective and relatable, making it a moving piece of music that speaks to many people.

This is one of the greatest songs I’ve ever heard. The vocals , the lyrics the perfect fitted melody , the not too much beat . It’s not sad, it’s not happy, it has something, something real .
@qwj68boots
A car accident and seeming vanity is not sad? Pathetic maybe? I love the song, just trying to start dialogs about Great songs.😊 great narrative. Sad amerikkka has slept on MR. This never got airplay as far as I know. I discovered him via Valerie on his album with the Great Late A. Winehouse.❤❤❤
