Always a songwriter first and at heart, Salling recently released his debut solo album “Smoke Signals” under the pseudonym Jericho. A jack-of-all-trades, Salling plays guitar, piano, bass and drums while writing, producing and singing lead vocals on all his tracks and even lending his original songs to other artists such as Josh Green and Danielle McKee. A sound unlike any other, Salling’s music is an eclectic blend of indie and alternative rock, with the timelessness of Radiohead, and the pop sensibility of Coldplay. Drawing much of his inspiration from musical groundbreakers as Thom Yorke and Trent Reznor, Salling has committed to a lifestyle of perfecting his primary passion, branching out into all genres, jazz, country, rock, pop and even hip-hop.
Salling, a native of the lone star state left Dallas, Texas with nothing but a suitcase and guitar, moved to Tinsletown, hoping to catch a break and make it on talent alone. But as with most who head out west, the beginning was slow-going—he attended the Los Angeles Music Academy in Pasadena, CA and got a job teaching guitar lessons .
A career years in the making, and five agonizing auditions for “Glee” later, Salling booked the role of “Puck,” the hardcore jock wired with showtunes, beating out several well-known actors for the part.
When he’s not filming the show, Salling can almost always be found behind a guitar or set of keys. Additionally, he enjoys playing basketball, frisbee golf and lifting weights while remaining active in his love of birds and wildlife by volunteering with the James Hunter Wildlife Rescue charity. He enjoys jazz nights at local Hollywood bars and always makes sure there is time left over for his beloved Blue Heeler, “Hank.”

I don't know why but for some reason or other (happens often) Last.fm thinks that some artists don't exist and redirect you to who they think that you mean. In this case I am redirected here and Mark Sallings did exist. So because of having no other choice (I am not allowed to leave a biography on Mark Sallings page.), I am going to provide his biography here below.
MARK SALLINGS
Muscian Song Writer Blues Harpist
Mark Thomas Sallings was born near Helena, Arkansas. He picked up the nick name "Mighty Oak" along the way. Sallings began playing the harp professionally at age 14, and worked in Memphis as a session player with Stax Records right out of high school.
As a journeyman musician, Sallings performed with the Coon Elder Band and as part of country star David Lynn Jones' band during the 1980s, appearing in three of Jones' music videos. Sallings formed his Famous Unknowns band in the early-90s, performing across the country at club dates and festivals. Sallings, also, made frequent appearances at the Arkansas Blues & Heritage Festival through the years.
Sallings recorded two albums with the Famous Unknowns – "Let It Be Known" in 1996 and "Talkin' To Myself" a year later – as well as a solo album, "Temporary Life", which was released in 2005. Sallings also performed on legendary Memphis producer Jim Dickinson's 2006 album "Voodoo Tiger".
Endorsed by Hohner Harmonics and widely considered in the industry as one of the best Delta-style harp players, Sallings was also a talented saxophone and piano player. A familiar presence on the thriving Arkansas blues scene.
Mark Sallings tragically died in a two-vehicle accident while driving to a casino gig in Tunica, Mississippi. Mark Sallings will be missed by his many fans, both at home and overseas.
Mark Sallings recorded only one CD as a group entity, with The Famous Unknowns, titled: Up Close and Personal. Shortly after the release of the CD, The Famous Unknowns disbanded and Mark embarked upon a solo career, performing as front man for his own band: "Mark Sallings and The Famous Unknowns." In 1995 he was signed to Vent Records out of Birmingham, Alabama, where he recorded his first solo CD as simply, Mark Sallings titled: Let it Be Known. Let it Be Known was followed by another solo CD on the Vent label, titled: Talkin' to Myself. Vent Records shut down at the end of 1999. Mark went on to record and independent project, titled: Temporary Life

Musical Soulmate
Mark Salling Lyrics

The depth of your beauty for the first time
A million ears had heard you
But none had listened quite like mine
Every phrase that leaves your lips
Makes me feel as if I’m paralyzed
Talking is trivial, sing another crazy note
The troubles that we knew before
Disappear and all I know is that
It makes no difference where you come from
I don’t care if you need my love
You know I’ll be there
I swear I want to sing to the world
No need to keep it a secret
You are the one, the only
My musical soulmate
Darling listen
The audience is calling you
(They’re calling you)
But there’s no way in hell that
They will ever feel you like I do
It makes no difference where you come from
I don’t care if you need my love
You know I’ll be there
I swear I want to sing to the world
No need to keep it a secret
You are the one, the only
My musical soulmate
The song "Musical Soulmate" by Mark Salling is a beautiful tribute to an artist he deeply admires. The opening lines suggest that Salling has had his fair share of listening to this artist's music, but there was a particular moment in time when he truly understood the depth of their beauty. Being a musician himself, Salling feels connected with the nuances of the artist's music and can appreciate it in a way that hasn't been done before. The next verse talks about how every phrase and note that comes out of the artist's mouth is so captivating that talking becomes trivial in comparison. The beauty of the music is so overwhelming and awe-inspiring that it renders Salling frozen. Any crazy note that the artist sings, and he will harmonize beneath it, showing that he believes the artist's music is the one for him.
The chorus talks about how insignificant it is where the artist comes from or what they need from him because Salling will always be there. He wants to share his admiration for this artist with the world and not keep it a secret. He believes that this artist is his "musical soulmate", and nothing can come between this bond. The song ends by reminding the artist that though the audience may be calling out their name, Salling is the one who understands them the best.
Overall, "Musical Soulmate" is a beautiful song that touches on the beauty of music and how it can connect people in a deep and meaningful way.

I remember when I realized
I recall the precise moment I realized
The depth of your beauty for the first time
The magnitude of your inner beauty struck me for the first time
A million ears had heard you
Your voice had already been heard countless times
But none had listened quite like mine
But I listened to your voice with a unique intensity
Every phrase that leaves your lips
Each word you sing or speak
Makes me feel as if I’m paralyzed
Overwhelms me to the point of immobility
Talking is trivial, sing another crazy note
Talking is insignificant in comparison, please sing more
And I will be a third below
And I will add a harmonious third vocal note below yours
The troubles that we knew before
All the problems we faced before
Disappear and all I know is that
Vanish, leaving me with a clear understanding that
It makes no difference where you come from
It doesn't matter your origin
I don’t care if you need my love
I don’t mind if you require my affection
You know I’ll be there
You know I will always be by your side
I swear I want to sing to the world
I promise to perform our music to the entire world
No need to keep it a secret
We don't have to keep our musical connection private
You are the one, the only
You're the sole person for me
My musical soulmate
The one I'm connected with musically on a spiritual level
Darling listen
My beloved, please listen carefully
The audience is calling you (They’re calling you)
The audience is applauding and requesting another song from you
But there’s no way in hell that
However, there's no possible scenario where
They will ever feel you like I do
They will never experience your music like I do

and the perfect episode to use it on would've been either funeral when they were auditioning for jesse and schue to be leads at nationals. or the actual nationals episode were he would've sang this for rachel. puckleberry should've been endgame :(
GLEESTORIES
They started dating in the VERY beginning of glee which was in 2009. Mark broke up with her a couple months later and she went crazy, she keyed his car and tried to get him kicked off GLEE. This was off his second album which was written in 2010. I also belive this was for Lea because I remember one interview they asked Mark about Lea and he said and I quote " I like it when we sing together we have so much chemistry. Were like Musically Compadible."
Erica Martinez
I know people who hear this song want to know who Mark wrote it for. But what I'm curious about is what happened to the music he wrote. Did he manage to record anything after Pipe Dreams? Was the song from Rocky Road ever released? Such incredible songwriting and composing...a beautiful voice...if only Mark had gotten help or someone had given him help sonner. May his soul rest in peace.
