Candy Blair as a foster mother and the mother of a daughter I adopted; we are not put upon this earth to judge. The strength it took for that beautiful woman to give her daughter a life she would not have been able to provide, the courage to carry that child and not abort it knowing she was unable to provide. The reasons behind her decision is not ours to know, but show some respect. I’ve seen what happens when mothers keep children and can’t raise them.

I kept my son when I was single, at another time and place, at that time, moms, if single were put in unwed mom's homes. There was a lot of emotional manipulation going on. There was no guarentee who would adopt your child, there was no communication, not even from a third party. There was no open adoption. I am blessed, because even though my parents disowned me and my brother and sister distanced themselves from me, God had my back. The churches back then treated me like a pariah as well. They could not see that thier judgemental attitudes were worse than any sin I committed. But God gave me a God fearing husband and we had more children, to this day , my oldest looks more like my husband than the rest of our children do and they are all close. Never be afraid to choose what God has placed on your heart to do, if it is right, He will back you and take care of you.

I found your song last week when I was looking for a song about adoption to play at my birth mom's funeral :( I was fortunate enough to find her about 11 years ago and was able to form an incredible relationship. Unfortunately, she had a long battle with cancer and was called home last Sunday. I was on my way driving down to see her, but didn't make it in time. About eight years ago when I lived in Winston-Salem North Carolina Mark Schwartz was in concert in the mall. He shared his testimony in between his performances. He was going to the table to sign on his CDs after the concert ended I ran over there quickly and I looked him in the eyes and Said Mark when is your birthday? I then looked at him and said you're not my son. He then came around the table and gave me a big hug and we shared our tears together. As I'm listening to this song I pray to God and ask him to bring my son to me and I know only in God's time you'll bring them to me .

Last year on my birthday (46th), I made a phone call that changed my life forever. You see I was calling a number that was emailed to me from a woman who was searching for the son she gave up for adoption. I made the call at 5:16pm. She returned my call at 6:02pm; exactly 46 minutes later. As soon as she answered the phone I recognized her voice; wasn't sure why until we talked. She told me that she used to sing to me every day when I was in the womb. Today a year later we have a wonderful relationship and our love has literally poured out into other aspects of our lives and those we are close to. God does not work in mysterious ways and I believe that with all my heart and soul. The gift He gave us last year is proof that God is working in each of our lives and know one knows adoption better than He. Through His Son Jesus Christ we are all given to God through adoption. My prayer is always for the child who feels abandoned and for the mother who gave a piece of herself to someone else. This is a brave and wonderful thing for a mother to do. I have been and will always be grateful for the choice my mother made that day back in 1967. I love you Mom.

Thank you my dear son for being who you are and who you have grown to be. And thank you for allowing me in your life. My love for you has always been strong through all those years of searching. Giving you life and then giving you up was an event that changed my life completely. I decided not to have any more children; rather have a career and try to help others become successful and find their way. God has been good to me over the years. Then he gave me back his greatest gift to me... you. That minute 6:02pm on your birth day when I called you back was also the moment 46 years prior I had looked up at the clock on the hospital wall, after just giving birth to you a few minutes prior. We have marveled at how God really wanted us to know that this was truly a "miracle" by giving us these "signs". Especially in a time when people don't think there are really miracles like Jesus performed anymore. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for this song! I am a birth mother of a beatiful 7 year old little boy and I am right at the beginning of the rilinquishment process so that he can be adopted. I have been torn apart for the last couple of months and have felt like I was failing my child. he and I both have several disabilities which makes it difficult for me to parent him on my own. I want him to receive the adequate love and care he deserves, but it is still so hard.

So sad that this prevails...."she loved you so much that she gave you away"--a wound is what she gave you, what my birth mother gave me, when we were given away to be raised by strangers. It doesn't matter how great our adoptive parents may have been, there was a hole left in our hearts. I hope one day you grasp this, for the sake of your adopted child, if not for yourself.

I am also a birth mother who had her children away I have dreamed about meeting my babies again one day and my dream finally came true after seventeen year and sixteen years never give up miracles happen my son is now home I found them three days ago and I meet my youngest daughter Sunday thank you god

I was adopted and this is exactly how I feel. I read things like kids who are adopted struggle with being wanted, but I don't because I believe that my birth mother gave me the best option she could. I don't desire a relationship with my birth mother, but I would love to tell her that she did the right thing, and thank her and tell her that I have an amazing life.

Hi, I responded about a month ago. The decision to give a child that you love so much up so that they can have a better life is so difficult, but so worth it. Jason will be 8 next week. I still speak to him every week and he is doing well. the relinquishment will be finished next month and the adoption takes place in Dec. My heart still breaks and I am still torn up inside, but knowing my son is happy and healthy makes all the difference. I thank my higher power for his new family.

It takes a very strong and loving person to place a baby up for adoption. Their is a immense love for my birth mother. She made such a selfless act 47 years ago. I found her a year ago and I thank her every day. We are inseparable now.

I was adopted 20yrs ago. I’m so grateful to be in this family. For years I hated her for giving me up. For years I was angry at God for allowing it to happen. I was a fool. When I was 17, I realized she did give me everything by giving me up. I haven’t seen her since that day, but wherever she is, I love her dearly. She put my needs before her own and gave me to people who could care for me. I know she was an addict and was single. If I ever see her, I will def thank her for giving me everything.
I’m a 20yr old male who does have a hard time showing emotions, but when I listened to this song and saw your comment, I just broke down.

The son I placed turned 17 yesterday. Today is 17 yrs since I held & handed him over for the last time. The "anniversary" pain never stops, but I also know I had nothing to give him at the time. The father was violent, even had harmed my older son. I a selfish 21 yr old, on/off drugs, living on my mom's couch, trying to get clean & my life together. The semi-open adoption was a great option b/c although I don't know last names or locations, I was able to pick the parents, meet them ahead of time & hand him to them. The first couple of years after he was born we kept contact via the agency, but we lost touch after. I didn't know what to say & wanted to give them space, didn't want to push. The closure of seeing him again will hopefully come, but only if he's comfortable with it. I won't force it but my door is always open&I truly hope he chooses to at least meet his siblings one day.

What a beautiful song and video! I think of the adoptive Mom and Dad holding their baby for the first time. The biological mom's decision meant everything to them. This video brings to mind which is harder; having a child and knowing that giving it up will be better or struggling for years to have a child. I wish teenage moms would think about these things before deciding to keep their baby. Infertility affects 10% of couples who desperately want a baby.

(3) Now my brother and my family is heartbroken. We never got to see or hold Scarlet all because one selfish girl's stupid decision. She could of just give the baby to my brother and my family. Scarlet would be almost 1 by now and would have been a happy baby. She never got to see her father who loved her since he found out he was going to be a Dad. I miss her. I love my nephews and nieces like they are my own children. I still cry when I think about Scarlet.

With so many married couples waiting for a child to adopt, I hope this beautiful message will inspire some single mothers to consider giving a child to adoption. Especially if life for her and the baby will be hard. Adoptive parents have been carefully checked out and will make good parents for a child that might otherwise have had to struggle through life.

I am sorry--it must be so difficult for you. No matter what, remember that your Mom made the decision to give you life and love. My sister gave a child up for adoption and I believe it was one of the hardest decisions of her life. I will pray for you right now that God would bring healing in your heart and perhaps a reunion with your birth Mom.

as an adoptive mother, this song means so much to me. I love my childrens' birth mothers with all my heart and then some ... I hope and pray that when my children are older, they will feel the same way towards their birth mother.
