God, I almost shed a tear listening to these. It's not just the nostalgia of childhood, these still are some of the best video game music I've ever heard. So peaceful, haunting, and harmonious with the fairytale settings. Mark Seibert was legendary. My favorite tracks are Introduction - Crispin, the Partying Bandits, and the Crystal Cave. Thank you so much for these!

Exactly! Mark Siebert made the most memorable music in my opinion the best pieces in Kings Quest 5! They have also been possible to download from his site before! 👍 Not sure if he wrote for Kings Quest 6 as well?

I played this game thru many times in the 90s and NEVER once heard the Weeping Willow sing or say anything besides “Leave my harp alone it’s mine!” 😂 I love this.

That has pretty much happened...several times. (At least for a subset of the Kings Quest series.) Have you actually searched for this on the web? You may be pleasantly surprised.

@3DFX MT-32 and SoundCanvas emulators actually exist for current gen PC. MT-32 is MUNT. You still need the roms' dumps though. And SoundCanvas VA by Roland

@Ethan Wolfcat Ahh yes Dosbox make the nostalgia alive! I acually downloaded Dos 6 for an old 300 mhz amd that i had in my laundry room just coz the feeling of purism for a while haha! 😄 Very cool that you can use MT-32 on the "emulators".. I acually bought an MT-32 on later years so it should still be there somwhere in the wardobe to show grand childrens the gaming history they been missing one day.. 👍

@3DFX Gog used to use DosBox to run it but now, it's with ScummVM. You can still configure ScummVM to use the MT-32 emulator or SoundCanvas VA emulator.

@3DFX the GoG version has the speech version. Not the best King's Quest even with the speech although very imersive.

@Ethan Wolfcat We had it, together with a Roland D20 synthesizer beside a 286 sx 20 mhz, 20 mb hard drive IBM "Super Emil" EGA 16 color screen.. 😄Kings Quest 5 was delivered on around 10 5.25 inch floppy disks.. Most of u guys probably know there was a talkie version of KQ5 on CD-Rom with glorious VGA 256 color also! Maby the talkie version wasent the best voice talent-wise, but its amazing how early Sierra was onto this! Those were the days! 👍

KQ5 would have to be my favourite MT-32 soundtrack, it really pushed that old synthesiser to it's limits, but then again most Sierra games did that. Back when I was a kid, we only had crappy old Sound Blaster FM synth for music.

In a way the intro to this game was more memorable than the game itself. King's Quest 6 had the best in-game story as I recall.

.... I enjoyed playing and completing the MS-DOS (CD-ROM) and NES version of this game when it came out. However, the adventure seemed short-lived in comparison to other "King's Quest" games.

( The scene with Crispin reminded me of "Star Wars" when Obi-Wan gave Luke Skywalker the lightsaber.)

I had no idea the MT-32 had this capability. I'm going to figure out how to get this emulated via ScummVM proper now.

Apparently, the game sounds so much better on a Roland because Sierra Online had a deal with Roland to make the music in their game specifically for Roland devices to showcase how good they were. Naturally, the music of other devices suffered.
