Holland
Mark Wilson Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Strip down to a bare confession, of a soul
Paris France, I hear is nice. But to Holland is where I'll fly. Although its different, it's just as good. Everyone packs with a plan in mind. But now and then other things they find. Although its different, its just as good
Patience runs through my brother, more than you know
Doors shut today, means we knock until they say, "come in anyway", and we won't stop until they play a song of your rights in a world of monetary insights, where the dollar is the bible. But we'll try every mile
The lyrics to Mark Wilson's song "Holland" evoke a sense of wanderlust and a desire to find a place where one feels truly at home. The first two lines, "Place in your heart, that makes magic, under our toes / Strip down to a bare confession, of a soul" suggest that the song is about finding a place that brings out the best in us, where we can be true to ourselves and feel free to be vulnerable. Holland, the place where the singer wants to fly, is described as different from other places, but just as good. This suggests that the singer is looking for a unique experience, something that sets Holland apart from other destinations.
The third verse, "Patience runs through my brother, more than you know / Grateful for the things you taught me, over the years," suggests that the singer has learned important lessons from someone close to him, perhaps a sibling or a parent. The reference to patience suggests that this person has taught the singer to persevere in the face of adversity, to keep moving forward even when things get tough. The final verse speaks to the challenges of living in a society that values money over everything else, but also suggests that the singer is committed to fighting for what he believes in, even if it means going against the grain.
Overall, "Holland" is a song about the search for a place that feels like home, and the struggle to stay true to oneself in a world that doesn't always value authenticity.
