Let it shake your bones
Tonight I'm going
Where no one goes
I'm done waiting
Gonna make it stop
I'll be paying with a bit of my heart
Heya heya-ah, Heya heya hey-ah
Super powers, high above this town
Climbing towers
And I won't look down
Fortune hunter, gonna play my part
I'll be paying with a bit of my heart
In the light, in the dark
I will be a fortune hunter
Watching the sky from dusk till dawn
I'm gonna find my Indian summer
Heya heya-ah, Heya heya hey-ah
Heya heya-ah, Heya heya hey-ah
I wanna taste it
Feel that bitter sweet
Hot, baby, underneath my feet
What I couldn't, could be torn apart
Always paying with a bit of my heart
In the light, in the dark
I will be a fortune hunter
Watching the sky from dusk till dawn
I'm gonna find my Indian summer
Heya heya-ah, Heya heya hey-ah
Heya heya-ah, Heya heya hey-ah
Heya heya-ah, Heya heya hey-ah
Heya heya-ah, Heya heya hey-ah
In the light, in the dark
I will be a fortune hunter
Watching the sky from dusk till dawn
I'm gonna find
Through the fire and out of the ashes
I'll be the one to grant my wishes
Fortune hunter
I'm gonna find my Indian summer
Now I'm ready to get lost
Ready to live it all
But I don't care about the cost
I'm gonna find my Indian summer
So every line I cross
I know I could lose it all
But I don't care about the cost
I'm gonna find
Now I'm ready to get lost
Ready to live it all
But I don't care about the cost
I'm gonna find my Indian summer
So every line I cross
I know I could lose it all
But I don't care about the cost
I'm gonna find my Indian summer
Heya heya-ah, Heya heya hey-ah
Heya heya-ah, Heya heya hey-ah
Heya heya-ah, Heya heya hey-ah
Heya heya-ah, Heya heya hey-ah
The song ‘Indian Summer’ by Marlene is about chasing after dreams and hoping to find something greater. It tells the story of a person who has grown tired of waiting for opportunities to come to them, and decides to take matters into their own hands. They embark on a journey that others may not understand or follow, but it is one that they believe will lead them to their own ‘Indian summer’, a metaphor for a time of peace and prosperity.
The lyrics suggest that this journey is not without risk, as the person acknowledges that they could lose everything they have worked for at any moment. Yet, they are willing to take that risk, having decided that the reward of finding their own ‘Indian summer’ is worth it. The chorus, with its repetition of the phrase ‘heya heya-ah’, gives the song an anthemic quality, evoking a sense of courage and determination that carries the listener along with the singer.
Overall, ‘Indian Summer’ is a song about hope, perseverance, and the willingness to take risks in order to pursue a dream. The imagery of towers, climbing, and looking to the sky all reinforce the idea of reaching for something greater, something beyond the confines of the everyday world.
