Black Cat
Marley Ziggy Lyrics

I saw your hazel eyes, sparkling in the moonlight
Black cat one day things will change, I'm gonna wipe away your bad name
My friend tells me you're no good, and I say hey I'm not afraid
Black cat you're beautiful, why does everybody run away
Has anybody told you, I care
Black cat come visit me, I don't care what people say
I saw your hazel eyes, sparkling in the moonlight
Black cat things will change, I'm gonna wipe away your bad name
Black cat you're beautiful, black cat, black cat
The song "Black Cat" by Ziggy Marley is a poetic appeal towards a mysterious, often misunderstood animal that is believed to bring bad luck in many cultures. The lyrics begin with an invitation for the black cat to visit the singer despite the common perception that such felines are cursed. The singer confesses that he 'doesn't care what people say,' indicating a rebel spirit that is not swayed by popular opinions or superstitions but is open-minded to new experiences.
The second verse indicates an intention to redeem the black cat's reputation and prove naysayers wrong. The singer expresses empathy for the cat's plight, acknowledging the negative bias towards the creature but refusing to buy into it. In the chorus, the singer marvels at the black cat's beauty and wonders why other people disregard it. This admiration seems to come from an entirely different perspective from the superstitious stigma that typically surrounds black cats.
In the end, the song conveys a message of love, not only to the black cat but also to those who are misunderstood, marginalized, or mistreated in society. The song is a testament to the fact that there is beauty to be found in unlikely places and that true understanding can come from listening to one's heart rather than the opinions of the crowd.

Had a cat show up, was a strangley dark colored Calico, with orange and lots of dark colors throughout its fur. My mother had just gotten done dropping off her sister, a brightly colored female kitty that was orange and white... which out in the country in Idaho meant that she would end up as owl food. So we dropped her off at a friends of my mothers, she turned out to be pregnant... Named that situation the crazy cat lady starter kit as my Aunt still has all of the kittens.
