Spin round the block, chasing your fate
Spend everyday, thinking bout rollies
Spilling the drinks, bring out the homies
I see your face
I put them diamonds on skates
Dancing with jazz in the place
No more to say
I think your trust is a little misplaced
I stay hitting the roads by tomorrow I'll be gone
In the cold through the snow on the road
No more repeating, relating by stating they feelings
Shaking the tree, hoping the fruits come your way
Attention you seek, swimming right through I'm feeling the waves (yeah, yeah)
Need a release (yeah, yeah)
Get up out of my lane (my lane)
Coming for the soul I say I can't sell
Play my vision and light the candle
Like my pictures and post them as well
Hoping to build the fences like Denzel
Stems from taboo topics,
I ain't intrigued unless I'm on top lists
Heard about a new wave coming into town,
This that new shit, do you like the way it sound
That's that
Looking kind of fire in here
I don't know what it's about (living two lives it's not what it)
Staring at my eyes
And I know that she wants clout
Not feeling your vibe, you making a scene
Living two lives, it's not what it seems
Hide behind the base jewels
Yeah but I know you well
Switch the plans and think that's swell
Want to be someone else oh well
Take a new role and see how it go
Manifested ideas gotta keep it on the low
I could tell something wrong just from talking on the phone
Remember back in them days when said it all along (said it all along)
Put it on my name
Can't communicate, play the blame game
I went for a walk but it didn't sit right
Favoring bottles, changing the rules
Changing identity to get amenities
Acting funny, move like a parody
Plan on reaching the sky
Thinking I'll please I just hope I don't freeze
Feeling all the light on me
Taking all the love it don't come for free
Looking for the man in the mirror
Eyes turn blue they deceived my brother
You know that I just want some more
You know what it's about (living two lives it's not what it)
She know that it's alright
And she know that it's for clout
That's that
Looking kind of fly in here
I don't know what it's about (living two lives it's not what it)
Staring at my eyes
And I know that she wants clout
Not feeling your vibe, you making a scene
Living two lives, it's not what it seems
Marlo's song Visions is a reflection on the uncertainties and doubts of modern-day life. The opening lines reveal the singer's indecision and lack of purpose, "Sometimes I think, chillin' all day, Spin round the block, chasing your fate." The song's chorus introduces the idea of living two lives, which is not what it seems. The singer points out that there is a deception taking place and people are hiding behind their facades, "Living two lives, it's not what it seems, Hide behind the base jewels, Yeah but, I know you well."
Throughout the song, the idea of people pretending is reiterated. The singer sees through the deception and is unimpressed by people's self-aggrandizement, "And I know that she wants clout, Not feeling your vibe, you're making a scene." The song talks about the struggles of trying to make it while dealing with the complexity of life, such as love, drugs, and social media. Marlo's rap also illustrates the futility of trying to please everyone, "Plan on reaching the sky, Thinking I'll please, I just hope I don't freeze, Feeling all the light on me, Taking all the love, it don't come for free."
In essence, Visions is a reality check that reminds us that we shouldn't believe everything we see or hear. It is easy to get lost in the noise of life, and it takes a keen eye to see through the deception.
