Reportedly, the duo formed in 2003, but because of being busy with their own bands, from releasing and recording albums and touring, it took until 2005 for the bands first album (in a trio of concept albums) to be released. This album was named "The Magnificent Duke" and is 18 tracks in length. It is to be followed by Duke Pandemonium, to be released April 2009, and finally Death of the Duke with an unknown recording or release date.
The second installment of the trio of concept albums, this album seems to be taking more of a synth approach, with two new tracks on their websites, named "Silhouttes" and "Everybody Dance" but the band has also said some other tracks on the new album, which they played live will be "Erotic Robotic", "Music Show" and "Heartburn". The tracks are a radical new direction for the band.
The album was scheduled for release in late 2006 and a 3-track sampler CD distributed to magazines and radio stations in spring 2006; but due to the touring and recording commitments of Biffy Clyro, it was decided to postpone the record til the band could actually tour it.
In late 2008, it was announced that 'Duke Pandemonium' will be released on 14th Floor/Warners in April 2009 preceded by two singles, 'Kid Gloves' (2nd March 2009) and 'Rubber Lover' (April 2009).
On 21 February it was announced on a Radio 2 Session that 'Duke Pandemonium' is due for release on the 4 May 2009.
In the future, there will be a third in the trilogy, Death Of The Duke, which is to be out around 2011. It has been rumoured that the album will be a continuous track, almost like Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield or Oxygene by Jean Michel Jarre. It has also been described by The Atmosphere in a recent interview as having a "Completely disgusting" sound.

Marmaduke Duke Lyrics

Well I don't care yeah, I'm faithless: I care about you
I don't care about money, you can scream you don't love me!
I'll make you so proud of me, and you can care for me too...
Yeah I don't care about time,
I want you body and mind,
And nothing left to lose
I don't have any answers, I'm willing to take chances
I don't live in the past yeah: I care about you
I don't care about people- take that thought and make it illegal!
I've had enough with equal
This fear and seasonal blues
No one ain't ever bring you flowers
Yes I've been drifting for hours,
With silhouettes and summer showers
That shine like you do
Yeah I don't care about time,
I want you body and mind,
Yeah we've got tonight
And nothing left to lose
I don't have any answers, I'm willing to take chances
I don't live in the past yeah: I care about you
Yeah I don't care about time
(Any other lover in the world's just wasting time)
And we've got tonight
(Any other lover in the world's just wasting time)
I don't have any answers
(Any other lover in the world's just wasting time)
Don't live in the past yeah
(Any other lover in the world's just wasting time)
The lyrics of Marmaduke Duke's song Silhouettes are about the singer's devotion and love for someone. The singer makes it clear that they do not care about the superficial things like places, religion or races, or even money – they care only about the person they are addressing in the song. They expressly state their faithlessness, which is then tied back to the opening lines: it's not about any structure or guideline, it's just about the person they love. The singer is confident that they will make their beloved proud of them.
In the chorus, the singer repeats that they don't care about time or the past - they are focused on the present moment and the person they care about. They are willing to take risks and chances to be with this person. The bridge is the most emotional part of the song, with the singer admitting to feeling adrift before finding their lover, and comparing the beauty of silhouettes and summer storms to the shine of their lover.
All in all, the lyrics speak to the idea that true love is all about the person and the present moment, not about any extraneous factors or societal expectations. It is a powerful declaration of love and devotion to one person.
