In 2001, the band regrouped, with guitarist James Valentine added to the line-up, and pursued a new direction under the name: Maroon 5. At this point, Jesse Carmichael switched to playing the keyboards and this has become his main instrument in the band (although he also plays rhythm guitar to this day). After these changes, Maroon 5 signed with Octone Records and released their debut album, "Songs About Jane", in June 2002. The album's lead single "Harder to Breathe", received heavy airplay, which helped the album to debut at number six on the Billboard 200 chart. The band won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2005. For the next few years, the band toured extensively worldwide in support of Songs About Jane and produced two live recordings: 2004's "1.22.03.Acoustic" and 2005's "Live Friday the 13th". In 2006, Ryan Dusick officially left the band after suffering from serious wrist and shoulder injuries and was replaced by Matt Flynn. The band recorded their second album, "It Won't Be Soon Before Long" and released it in May 2007. The album reached number one on the US Billboard 200 chart and the lead single, "Makes Me Wonder", became the band's first number-one song on the Billboard Hot 100.
On September 21, 2010, the band released their third studio album entitled "Hands All Over". It was re-released in 2011 to include the single "Moves like Jagger" (featuring Christina Aguilera). While the original version of the album received mixed reviews, "Moves like Jagger" reached the number one position on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The band released their next album, "Overexposed", on June 26, 2012. All four singles of the album were really successful on the charts - for example, the second single from Overexposed, "One More Night" (released on June 19, 2012), reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2014, the band signed with Interscope Records and released their fifth studio album, "V", with the very-first line-up of six official band members, as keyboardist and backing vocalist PJ Morton became an official member in 2012. The album debuted at top of the weekly Billboard 200 chart. Since its debut in 2002, the band has sold more than 15 million albums in the United States and over 100 million singles and 27 million albums worldwide.
06-Wont Go Home Without You

But she wouldn't listen
And she left before I had the chance to say, oh
The words that would mend
The things that were broken
But now it's far too late, she's gone away
Every night you cry yourself to sleep
Why does every moment have to be so hard?"
Hard to believe that
It's not over tonight
Just give me one more chance to make it right
I may not make it through the night
I won't go home without you
The taste of her breath
I'll never get over
The noises that you made kept me awake
The weight of the things
that remained unspoken
Built up so much it crushed us everyday
Every night you cry yourself to sleep
Thinking "Why does this happen to me?
Why does every moment have to be so hard?"
Hard to believe that
It's not over tonight
Just give me one more chance to make it right
I may not make it through the night
I won't go home without you
Of all the things I felt but never really shown
Perhaps the worst is that I ever let you go
I should not ever let you go, oh, oh, oh
It's not over tonight
Just give me one more chance to make it right
I may not make it through the night
I won't go home without you
I won't go home without you
I won't go home without you
I won't go home without you
The lyrics of Maroon 5's "Won't Go Home Without You" tell the story of a man who is regretful for not expressing his feelings of love to his partner before she leaves him. He reminisces on the moments they shared together, the sound of her voice, and the taste of her breath that he cannot seem to forget. The singer of the song is depicted as a man who is filled with remorse for allowing his indecisiveness to ruin his relationship. The lyrics show the singer's willingness to try again if given another opportunity to make things right. He reaffirms his love for his partner, pledging to not go home without her - meaning he won't give up on their relationship.
This song can be seen as a representation of the common struggles that people encounter in relationships. Maroon 5's lead vocalist Adam Levine wrote the song about his own experience when he broke up with his then-girlfriend, Jane Herman Bishop, who was his high school sweetheart. Despite his efforts to win her back, Jane had moved on, and it left Levine heartbroken. Traditionally, he would write songs dealing with his heartbreaks, and "Won't Go Home Without You" was one of the products of his healing process after the breakup.

I asked her to stay
I pleaded with her to remain with me
But she wouldn't listen
But she didn't heed my request
And she left before I had the chance to say, oh
And she departed before I could express my feelings
The words that would mend
The words that would fix our broken relationship
The things that were broken
The things that were damaged between us
But now it's far too late, she's gone away
But now it's too tardy, she has already left me
Every night you cry yourself to sleep
Every night, you weep yourself to slumber
Thinking: "Why does this happen to me?
Wondering, why does such a thing happen to me?
Why does every moment have to be so hard?"
Why must every moment be a strenuous attempt?
Hard to believe that
It's difficult to accept that
It's not over tonight
It's not finished tonight
Just give me one more chance to make it right
Please give me a final opportunity to put things right

that remained unspoken
that were left unsaid
Built up so much it crushed us everyday
It accumulated to the extent that it overwhelmed us every day
Of all the things I felt but never really shown
Of all the emotions that I felt, but never truly exposed
Perhaps the worst is that I ever let you go
Maybe the gravest mistake is that I allowed you to leave

I never should have let you go
I won't go home without you
I am not going home without you
I won't go home without you
I am not going home without you

How I wish that would happen... but I highly doubt this kind of music will still be popular with the early generations.
