"Makes Me Wonder" reached #1 in May 2007 (for a total of 3 non consecutive weeks) and was a major chart success in Canada (#1), UK (#2), Australia (#6) and other major territories.
According to comments by singer Adam Levine, the lyrics to the track can be read on two levels - the first about a bitter relationship break up; the second about feelings of disillusionment with the state of US politics.
A censored "clean" version changed the lyric: "And it really makes me wonder If I ever gave a f**k about you" to "And it really makes me wonder if I ever gave a thought about you".
Maroon 5 would receive their third Grammy award for "Makes Me Wonder" in the category of "Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal" in 2008.

Struggled to memorize
The way it felt between your thighs
Pleasure that made you cry
Feels so good to be bad
Not worth the aftermath, after that
After that
Try to get you back
I still don't have the reason
And you don't have the time
And it really makes me wonder
If I ever gave a fuck about you
Give me something to believe in
'Cause I don't believe in you
Anymore, anymore
I wonder if it even makes a difference to try
Yeah, so this is goodbye
God damn, my spinning head
Decisions that made my bed
Now I must lay in it
And deal with things I left unsaid
I want to dive into you
Forget what you're going through
I get behind, make your move
Forget about the truth
I still don't have the reason
And you don't have the time
And it really makes me wonder
If I ever gave a fuck about you
Give me something to believe in
'Cause I don't believe in you
Anymore, anymore
I wonder if it even makes a difference
It even makes a difference to try (yeah)
And you told me how you're feeling
But I don't believe it's true
Anymore, anymore
I wonder if it even makes a difference to cry
(Oh no)
So this is goodbye
I've been here before
One day I'll wake up
And it won't hurt anymore
You caught me in a lie
I have no alibi
The words you say don't have a meaning
'Cause
I still don't have the reason
And you don't have the time
And it really makes me wonder
If I ever gave a fuck about you and I
And so this is goodbye
Give me something to believe in
'Cause I don't believe in you
Anymore, anymore
I wonder if it even makes a difference
It even makes a difference to try
And you told me how you're feeling
But I don't believe it's true
Anymore, anymore
I wonder if it even makes a difference to cry
(Oh no)
So this is goodbye
So this is goodbye, yeah
So this is goodbye, yeah
So this is goodbye, yeah
Maroon 5's song "Makes Me Wonder" is a powerful reflection on relationships and the aftermath of breakups. The song begins with the singer waking up with blood-shot eyes and struggling to remember the pleasure of being with their partner. The chorus ponders the question of whether they ever cared for their partner or perhaps never gave them the attention they deserved. The second verse highlights the decision-making and unsaid words that led to the breakup and how the singer wants to forget about the truth and get behind their partner to make a move. The chorus then repeats, with the added line about not believing their partner's feelings are genuine anymore. The song ends with a realization that the relationship has come to an end and a bittersweet goodbye.
The song is all about the complexities of relationships and how they can leave us with more questions than answers. The singer is unsure if they ever cared for their partner, which adds a layer of nuance to the lyrics. It highlights the fact that in relationships, things are not always black and white. There are moments of pleasure and moments of pain; the aftermath can leave us feeling lost and confused.

@@2Future4U We admire their "beauty" of the rich and famous. Are they truly beautiful? as they seem to have:
- hoofs for the legs
- bald heads
- animal faced /birds, dogs, wolves , you name it)
- tails
- horns

But they "look" human?. Sure they do. They must hide, of we would kill them as we would then know, who they are (offspring of Cain = the cursed bloodline)
But they "look" human?. - it is just an illusion.
What`s underneath the illusion? - didn`t you already get a picture?
Ever noticed that every singer has at least 1 dark song?
Could it be, they sharing their experience after signing the blood contract?

K P – has “wide awake”

WhiteGuyFromCincy Well I don't quiet believe that but even if it's true, every band goes through changes and Maroon 5 is certainly no exception and certainly you cannot expect them to stay the same forever. They are not music machines designed the only fit one style, they are real people that evolve, just like everyone else.
I would agree with the entire "I don't like them cuz they're not the same" argument if adam and/or the entire M5 went full miley cirus but that's obviously not the case, in fact, Adam is happily married now after years of dating a new model every month. The truth is; times change and people do so as well.
"none of their songs now have real instruments". That's simply not true, and most M5 (recent) songs can be played with an acoustic guitar alone and sound even better, in fact that's what they do a lot of times when they play live and still sound great.
M5 (relatively) recent songs that still have their original style:

This is basically Levine at his peak, and he clearly knows that he looks very badass as a musician here
