She Will Be Loved
Maroon 5 Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Beauty queen of only eighteen
She had some trouble with herself
He was always there to help her
She always belonged to someone else
I drove for miles and miles
And wound up at your door
I've had you so many times
But somehow I want more

I don't mind spendin' everyday
Out on your corner in the pourin' rain
Look for the girl with the broken smile
Ask her if she wants to stay a while

And she will be loved
And she will be loved

Tap on my window, knock on my door
I want to make you feel beautiful
I know I tend to get so insecure
Doesn't matter anymore
It's not always rainbows and butterflies
It's compromise that moves us along, yeah
My heart is full, and my door's always open
You come anytime you want, yeah

I don't mind spendin' everyday
Out on your corner in the pourin' rain
Look for the girl with the broken smile
Ask her if she wants to stay awhile

And she will be loved
And she will be loved
And she will be loved
And she will be loved

I know where you hide alone in your car
Know all of the things that make you who you are
I know that goodbye means nothing at all
Comes back and makes me catch her every time she falls
Yeah

Tap on my window, knock on my door
I want to make you feel beautiful

I don't mind spendin' everyday
Out on your corner in the pourin' rain, oh
Look for the girl with the broken smile
Ask her if she wants to stay awhile

And she will be loved
And she will be loved
And she will be loved
And she will be loved

Please don't try so hard to say goodbye
I don't mind spendin' everyday

Out on your corner in the pourin' rain
Please don't try so hard to say goodbye

Overall Meaning

"She Will Be Loved" by Maroon 5 is a song about a young woman who struggles with insecurity while navigating relationships with men who do not treat her well. The singer of the song, a man, recognizes her beauty and the pain she endures, and he wants to love her and show her how beautiful she is. The opening lyric, "Beauty queen of only eighteen," sets up the young woman's beauty and youth. However, the next line, "She had some trouble with herself," hints at her insecurity and issues with self- esteem.

The song then introduces the singer, a man who is always there to help her but knows that she belongs to someone else. He has driven for miles to be with her and has had her many times, but he still wants more. The chorus, "And she will be loved," underscores his desire for her to feel loved and appreciated. The verse "I don't mind spendin' every day / Out on your corner in the pourin' rain / Look for the girl with the broken smile / Ask her if she wants to stay a while" further emphasizes his commitment to her and his willingness to weather any storm to show her that she is loved.

The song concludes with the singer revealing that he knows the young woman's secrets and her tendency to run away when things get tough. He wants her to see that goodbyes mean nothing and that he will always be there to catch her when she falls.

Overall, "She Will Be Loved" is a compassionate and empathetic song that tells a story of a person who wants to love and support someone they care about deeply, no matter what. 2024 and I still love this song. Although there are many parts of the original I like more than the radio edit, this version has a special place in my heart. From the increased instrumental during the chorus, to the more noticeable static in the verses, then the slight voice crack Levine has during the first chorus. There is definitely more soul and feeling in this version vs the original. I remember hearing this song for the first time at a local craft store when I was 6, and I still love this song to this day as a junior in high school. Even though I love the longer ending on the original, the radio edit will never get old.

This one is better because you can here the music more and Adams voice isn’t as loud in the original.

@entropy8000
